Alienware enters the pro gaming scene with a mouse and keyboard
For the longest time, Alienware was a household name for gaming peripherals. However, the brand never really made it into the competitive gaming scene yet. Today, at CES 2024, Alienware is finally taking the plunge. Besides its updated laptop lineup, the company is launching a new Pro Wireless Keyboard and a new Pro Wireless Mouse.
Alienware Pro Mouse
Consulting with hundreds of esports athletes, the new Pro Wireless Mouse finetunes everything you’d want in a competitive mouse. First of all, the mouse optimizes polling rate, or the metric that tells your device where the mouse is. Rather than the 1KHz typical of most mice today, Alienware’s mouse ups the ante to 4KHz (or 0.25ms response time) for wireless mode and 8KHz (or 0.125ms response time) for wired mode.
It also comes with Magnetic-Force Keyplates, reducing the time it takes for the mouse to register a mouse click. It will also offer 650 IPS tracking speed, 50G of acceleration, and up to 26,000 DPI.
For battery life, the mouse can last 32 hours at 4KHz polling rate and 120 hours at 1KHz polling rate. Plus, a five-minute charge can juice up the device for six hours at 1KHz polling rate.
Finally, Alienware engineered the mouse to be comfortable for any time of mouse grip: palm, claw, and fingertip. At under 60 grams, it’s also comfortable to slide along. And despite its lightness, the mouse is still durable, reportedly enduring over 70 million clicks.
Alienware Pro Keyboard
A smooth 75% keyboard with 1KHz polling rate, the new Pro Wireless Keyboard melds both customizability and comfort. The Alienware Linear Mechanical Switches boast 40g actuation force for both an accurate input and a satisfying feel. Using low-friction polyoxymethylene on the stem and two layers of silicone dampening, typing on the keyboard produces a pleasing deep tone.
For customizability, the Pro Wireless Keyboard features support for most 3- and 5-pin switches. It also comes with a free puller. For durability, the keyboard sports 7000 series aluminum. The double-shot PBT keycaps were tested for up to 100 million actuations.
Finally, the keyboard can last up to 72 hours at 50 percent RGB lighting and up to 798 hours with RGB lighting off.
Price and availability
Both the Pro Wireless Mouse and the Pro Wireless Keyboard will start shipping on January 11. The Alienware Pro Wireless Mouse will start at US$ 199.99. Meanwhile, the Pro Wireless Keyboard will start at US$ 149.99.
