Apple might update its iPad lineup this week
iPad, iPad Air, and iPad mini get an update
As the year winds down, Apple seemingly has one trick left up its sleeve. According to a few rumors, the company is reportedly updating its iPad lineup sometime this week.
First reported by Supercharged, Apple is introducing modest upgrades to the base iPad, the iPad Air, and the iPad mini. It’s not a big leap, though. In fact, there is no event scheduled for the update. Instead, through a 9to5Mac that corroborates the first report, the company is just sending press releases to announce the change.
In the reported release, the iPad Air will get the newer M2 chipset going forward. Meanwhile, the iPad mini will get the A16 Bionic chip.
Unfortunately, it’s unknown how Apple will handle the base iPad model. Currently, the base model has an A14 Bionic chipset. Going by that logic, the refreshed model might get an A16 Bionic chip, too. There’s just no way to corroborate that at the moment.
Additionally, the iPad Pro, which was last updated this time last year, will remain the same for now. Apple is still working on the future of that lineup for a launch sometime in the next year.
That said, if you’re in the market for a new iPad, you might want to wait a little bit longer before pulling the trigger on a new device.

The world of Batman Arkham is not done. Despite concluding the trilogy with the successful Arkham Knight, the series occasionally makes a comeback. Now, it’s time to make another trip to the immersive grimdark world. Batman: Arkham Shadow is the next entry to the series, exclusive to the Meta Quest 3.
The franchise’s trips outside of the main trilogy are a mixed bag. No disrespect to those who actually liked the game, but Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League just was not it. Though the game promised a return to Rocksteady’s iconic Arkham formula, the resulting game was a live-service mess. Arkham Origins was, at least, a decent play. Finally, the franchise’s first foray into VR, Arkham VR, was lauded for its gameplay but criticized for its length.
Arkham Shadow brings the franchise back to virtual reality. While the previous VR-exclusive was already a marvel of its technology, the upcoming title represents an evolution for hardware. Based on the official teaser, it will have updated graphics, giving Arkham City just that extra bite of darkness.
Currently, the trailer does not reveal anything about the game’s mechanics. More details are scheduled for release during the Summer Game Fest in June.
Though Arkham Shadow is certainly set in the eponymous universe, Rocksteady is not helming the development. Instead, Oculus Studios and Camouflaj are behind the title.
As for confirmed lore, the title looks like it will feature Ratcatcher, the villain who — surprise, surprise — controls rats. You might recognize the villain from 2021’s The Suicide Squad, directed by James Gunn.
TikTok lost its voice a few months ago. Back in February, the platform lost its rights to use and offer music from artists affiliated with the Universal Music Group. A few weeks ago, Taylor Swift, the biggest artist in that group, returned to the platform. Now, other artists are following suit.
In an official press release, Universal Music Group has announced a new licensing agreement between its artists and TikTok. As a result, users can once again fill their videos with music from artists such as Olivia Rodrigo and BTS.
With the new deal, TikTok’s woes in the music department are finally at an end. When the past deal ended, Universal initially refused a renewal, alleging that TikTok does not adequately pay artists for the use of their music. Once the deadline passed, TikTok was suddenly silent. Existing videos lost their music, and newly minted ones could not use the most popular selection of songs today.
Not surprisingly, Taylor Swift was ahead of the curve. Presumably because of her ownership over her masters, the world’s biggest musical artist returned to the platform without a new Universal deal. The return also came in time for Swift’s latest album, The Tortured Poets Department.
Now, the platform finally has Universal’s entire selection back. If your videos need that extra spice, now’s the time to get back into it.
