DxOMark: iPhone 8 and 8 Plus have best ever smartphone cameras

Just last week we saw the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus smoke the competition when it comes to raw performance. Now, it turns out the Apple pair has leg up in terms of camera quality, as well.
DxOMark, a popular reference for gauging the image quality of cameras, released their overall scores for the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus: 92 and 94.
These scores placed the two iPhones way above the previous leaders, the Google Pixel and HTC U11, on the smartphone rankings. They’re also significantly better than the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus released last year.
This can be considered a major victory for Apple, which has been hell-bent on producing the best-possible smartphone camera experience and beating the competition in the process.
DxOMark praised the iPhone 8 Plus’ “outstanding image quality, zoom for those needing to get closer to their subjects, and an industry-leading Portrait mode for artistic efforts.” And although the iPhone 8’s score isn’t as high, it’s proven itself to be the best single-camera smartphone shooter in the market today.
The pressure is now on Google to top these numbers with the upcoming Pixel 2. And if that isn’t enough, they have to wait for what the iPhone X can do.
