Galaxy Fold or Galaxy break? [Weekend Rewind]

Is this just a minor setback?

Published

Here are the top stories on GadgetMatch this week.

1. Launch of Samsung Galaxy Fold delayed

The Galaxy Fold is breaking. Well, at least the first ones sent to tech reviewers. This major development prompted Samsung to push back the release date of their first foldable smartphone.

What’s the fatal flaw? An all-too delicate protective layer. When tampered or peeled off, the layer breaks the entire screen, rendering the phone unusable.

Samsung quickly issued a statement saying they intend to investigate the matter swiftly. At the very least, the company will issue sterner consumer warnings to leave the protective layer alone.

2. Will the iPhone finally have 3 cameras?

The next iPhones could have a three-camera module based on leaks from an Apple case supplier.

The pictured mold depicts a potential third-party case for the phones. As a result, the photos hint only at the iPhone’s potential exterior. The two photos popped up on both Weibo and Slashleaks.

It’s too early to tell if this is legit but it’ll be exciting to monitor from here on out if we are indeed getting triple-camera iPhones.

3. OnePlus 7 Pro launch date is set

The OnePlus 7 Pro will be unveiled on May 14, 11AM EDT at Pier 94 in New York.

Aside from New York, the OnePlus 7 Pro will also be present in London, UK and Bangalore, India on May 14. This is the first time the brand is doing a global launch that will happen simultaneously across multiple countries.

There have been several leaks already leading up to this point. Regardless, we’re still very excited to bring you news of the unveiling as it happens.

4. New gaming laptops ℅ ROG

ASUS ROG isn’t messing around. They now have three new Zephyrus models complete with the latest GTX Turing graphics and 9th-gen Intel Core processors.

First is the Zephyrus G. It sports the new AMD Ryzen 7-3750H processor and NVIDIA GTX 1660 Ti graphics. It also has a 15-inch 120Hz IPS display with narrow bezels. The notebook can support up to 24GB DDR4 memory and up to 512GB SSD. ASUS promises seven hours of battery life (that is, if you’re just browsing the web).

Next is the ROG Zephyrus S. It comes with the latest 9th-gen Intel Core i7 processor and NVIDIA RTX 2070 graphics. Plus, it has ROG Boost for better performance. It even comes with a GPU switch to save battery life when G-Sync is not needed.

Lastly, there’s the ROG Zephyrus M. It’s a toned-down version with NVIDIA GTX 1660 Ti graphics. Since this one doesn’t need much to power its internals, it can be charged through USB-C when needed. It’ll also come with a new 9th-gen Intel Core i7 processor with dual M.2 NVMe SSD slots.

5. Days Gone review

There’s a good chance you’re already playing this game at this moment. But if you haven’t, maybe our review can help you decide.

Days Gone exudes a whole new dimension to developing quality games with an equally good story. The plot drives a lot of the activities that take place within the game, and provides ample time for you to accomplish them.
