Jabra launches the Jabra Enhance Plus

Audio technology has gone far beyond just blasting audio into our ears. The world’s biggest audio companies can now help us hear and navigate our world better. Case in point, Jabra has launched a new set of earpieces, the Jabra Enhance Plus, that can help the moderately hearing-impaired to hear their surroundings better.

Fresh off the launch of the Jabra Enhance Pro, Jabra is adding another device to help the hearing-impaired. However, though the device boasts improvements in hearing ability, it’s not an outright hearing aid. Instead, it is designed to help people with hearing challenges but not major hearing loss.

Touting a sleek, minimalist, and subtle design, the Jabra Enhance Plus is 50 percent smaller than the company’s (now formerly) smallest earpieces. It includes four sound processing features including a Warp Processor that analyzes sound similar to how the human ear does so. It also has a Digital Noise Reduction feature which can filter out noise in high-activity areas. Digital Feedback Suppression eliminates feedback from the output. Finally, a Binaural Beamformer focuses the device on what’s directly in front of the user.

Naturally, the device can also work on music and calls, aside from just enhancing hearing. The device will have more than 10 hours of battery life on a single charge and more than 30 hours of juice inside the charging case.

It will launch in the United States first with other territories coming soon after.

Apple has a reputation for selling its products at exorbitant prices. Even the brand’s affordability-positioned devices can still cost customers quite a pretty penny. However, getting the authentic Apple experience might soon get a significant price drop — for one segment, at least. The brand is reportedly launching a new pair of AirPods which will cost only US$ 99.

First reported by Ming-Chi Kuo on Twitter, Apple has inked a deal with Hon Teng, a subsidiary of the Foxconn Group, to manufacture the former’s AirPods lineup. Starting off the new partnership, Apple and Hon Teng will supposedly launch a new generation of AirPods Max and a new entry-level set. Either or both models will launch between the second half of 2024 to the first half of 2025.

With such a price tag, the rumored wearable would be one of the most affordable products you will be able to buy from Apple to date. Being positioned as an entry-level device, the affordable AirPods will likely lose a few features from the current generation like the H1 chipset.

It’s still quite some time before the rumored device’s launch, though. Like other leaks and rumors coming out as of late, the current report forecasts developments coming more than a year from now. Though technology can certainly see that far ahead, anything can change in a heartbeat.

Apple will release in-house microLED for devices soon

Replaces Samsung, LG for display vendors



Apple is quickly defining its year with increasing bouts of self-reliance. Only a little over a week since the year began, a few reports have already described the company’s big moves for the future: fewer third-party components, more in-house development. Now, fresh off reports of an in-house connectivity chip, Apple is reportedly readying another fresh replacement — microLED for all devices.

First reported by Bloomberg, Apple is already ready to replace the screens of 2024’s Apple Watch with the new display. After incorporating the new technology inside the wearable lineup, the company will eventually use the screens for the iPhone lineup in several years’ time.

It’s been a long time coming for the company. Development for the screen started all the way back in 2018. Almost five years since the news first broke, we’re finally learning what has become of the burgeoning display technology.

Though Apple has not released a product with the in-house display yet, it’s already a promising development. According to reports brewing since 2018, microLED technology can make colors pop out from a screen as if they were printed, rather than shone from a backlight. Doing so will even improve viewing angles on devices.

As of late, the company has relentlessly pursued in-house components to replace its reliance on third-party vendors. Reported earlier this week, it is reportedly working on a switch from Broadcom and Qualcomm to its own facilities. With a new display, Apple can replace Samsung and LG as the primary sources for its devices’ displays.

OnePlus 11 series launches in China

Global launch coming in February



Another year of promising smartphones has started. Though the more popular brands reserve their debuts for later in the year, OnePlus has gone ahead with the launch of its first flagship this year. Ahead of a more global launch, the Chinese brand has unleashed the OnePlus 11 series in China.

Inspired by “black holes,” the OnePlus 11 stands out from the crowd with its large, circular camera bump. On the flipside, the screen touts a 6.7-inch LTPO 3.0 AMOLED display, which puts out images at 2K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.

Inside the smartphone’s large frame, users will find the usual offerings they can expect from flagship devices throughout the first half of 2023. The OnePlus 11 boasts the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, up to 16GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of internal storage.

Once again, OnePlus is packing Hasselblad-built cameras for its flagship. The black-hole-inspired bump features a trio of shooters consisting of a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 32-megapixel telephoto lens, and a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera. Opposite the three, the selfie shooter takes 16-megapixel photos.

Finally, the smartphone will come with a 5000mAh battery. It will also charge at up to 100W.

OnePlus Buds Pro 2

To complement the flagship’s launch, OnePlus has also launched the OnePlus Buds Pro 2. Going a step beyond the previous generation, the new wearable features a dual-driver setup, packing an 11mm driver for bass and a 6mm driver for mid/treble.

For additional features, the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 comes with spatial audio and a six-axis motion sensor to optimize sound. It will connect to devices with Bluetooth 5.3 LE support. It will reportedly last for 39 hours on a single charge.

Price and availability in China

Ahead of everyone else, OnePlus is launching both the OnePlus 11 and the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 early for China. Users in the country can get the devices starting January 9. The rest of the world will get them after their launch on February 7. Both will come in either black or green.

The OnePlus 11 will start at CNY 3,999 (12GB RAM/256GB storage) and tops off at CNY 4,899 (16GB RAM/512GB storage). Meanwhile, the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 will sell for CNY 899.
