As more tech companies start to embrace 5G technology, laptops with 5G will soon arrive in the market. Lenovo showcased the first 5G laptops during the COMPUTEX 2019. Dubbed “Project Limitless”, the laptop promised fast Internet connectivity and instant-on performance.

This CES 2020, Lenovo is introducing new Yoga laptops that will define the lineup’s future. These new Yoga laptops are the Lenovo Yoga 5G and Yoga Slim 7.

Lenovo Yoga 5G

Lenovo Yoga 5G is the world’s first 5G laptop. It supports both millimeter-wave full-band and sub-6Hz 5G networks. With faster Internet connectivity, the Yoga 5G can download large files instantly or stream full HD movies even in crowded places.

5G connectivity is possible with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx. Launched last year, this ARM processor promises faster performance and longer battery life than a traditional x86 processor. It also comes with Adreno 680 to handle graphically intensive tasks.

Yoga 5G comes in a 14-inch FHD touchscreen, 8GB of memory, and up to 512GB of storage. It only comes with two USB 3.1 Gen 1 (Type-C) port and an audio jack. Battery life is rated at 24 hours of usage.

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7

For those reluctant to embrace 5G, Lenovo is offering the Yoga Slim 7 in 14-inch and 15-inch screens. It hosts a number of smart features to keep up with the times.

First, Lenovo improved attention-sensing functionality from Glance by Mirametrix. With this feature, the laptop can automatically move contents into a secondary display, pause audio or video playback, and mask on-screen content based on user’s gestures.

Yoga Slim 7 also gets a boost from Amazon Alexa. Even in standby, users can summon Alexa and utter some commands. Alexa will work with other Amazon devices — including the popular Amazon Echo — to perform a whole range of commands for a smarter home.

There are two screen options for Yoga Slim 7 — 14-inch and 15-inch. The 14-inch variant comes with either a 10th-generation Intel Ice Lake processor or an AMD Ryzen 4000 processor. Graphics gets a boost with Intel’s Iris Plus or AMD’s integrated graphics. Both are configurable up to 16GB of memory and 1TB of storage.

In terms of ports, the 14-inch variant covers all bases with two USB 3.1 Gen 2, a USB Type-C, an SD card reader, HDMI, and an audio jack. The 14-inch with Intel processors gets Thunderbolt 3 on its lone USB-C port. Battery life stands at 14 hours of continuous usage. Rapid charge is present — a quick 15-minute charge yields three hours of usage.

The 15-inch variant comes only with the 10th-generation Intel Core processor. There’s an option for either an NVIDIA MX or GTX graphics. It is configurable up to 16GB of memory and 1TB of storage.

Port-wise, it has 2 x USB 3.1 Gen 2, a USB Type-C, an SD card reader, HDMI, and an audio jack. Lenovo is advertising 13 hours of battery life that can be recharged rapidly.

Pricing and availability

Yoga 5G’s pricing will be determined ahead of its Spring 2020 launch.

Meanwhile, Yoga Slim 7 (14-inch & 15-inch Intel) starts at US$ 1209.99 and launches in April 2020. The 14-inch AMD variant starts at US$ 849.99 and launches simultaneously.

Sex tech is for everyone, not just for men

CES 2020 encourages sex positivity

Startup Lora DiCarlo graced the headlines last year for having its award revoked by the committee behind the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The startup believes it was unjust and fought for its right to be part of the annual show.

This year, Lora DiCarlo is the talk of the town once again, not because of an issue, but for being in the spotlight of CES 2020. Lora DiCarlo paved the way for sex tech to be out in the open, particularly companies with devices geared for women’s sex, health, and wellness.

Sex tech isn’t new, but sex being taboo in this modern yet surprisingly conservative society took the spotlight away from their devices. In case you’re wondering, sex technology mostly ventures on innovations to enhance our sexuality and sexual experience.

Breaking barriers

In 2017, men enjoyed VR porn as if it was that revolutionary, while sex toys and vibrators that offer solutions to enhance our experiences and relationships aren’t getting the splash they deserve. Thankfully, CES 2020 is taking a step forward in ending sexism and encourage sex-positivity. After all, sex is part of human nature.

Ever since Lora Haddock DiCarlo — the founder of Lora DiCarlo — fought for their right to be at CES, I was astounded and followed her journey. I’m all ears for women speaking up, especially with the goal of making a change in our society.

Lora DiCarlo’s Osé won an innovative award and was later revoked by CES. Eventually, Lora DiCarlo got the award reinstated while fighting for sex tech to be recognized in a separate category.

Now that DiCarlo and her company sparked a controversy, sex tech are now in the spotlight of the annual show held at Las Vegas. DiCarlo didn’t expect herself to be at the forefront of change, but it elevated her profile and grew her business.

Pleasure is at the forefront

At CES 2020, Lora DiCarlo showcased their first device once again — the Osé — is a personal massager which produces blended orgasm by mimicking movements of a human partner. It’s that revolutionary, hence, gaining an innovation award. I mean, just imagine a device pleasuring you the way a human partner does — It’s astonishing!

Lora DiCarlo’s Baci

Additionally, Lora DiCarlo unveiled two more devices: Baci and Onda. Baci is a micro-robotic device which stimulates the feel and motion of human lips and tongue, while Onda mimics the motion of human fingers. Even though it’s meant for women, I can’t wait to actually try one!

More sex technology to solve our needs

DiCarlo’s fight enabled other companies and devices to get noticed and join the spotlight. Satisfyer showed-off Satisyfer Connect, an app that can be used remotely with a long-distance partner. Lioness delivered its second-generation vibrator tracking data to improve orgasms.

Furthermore, Womanizer exhibited their products and Pleasure Air Technology — a combination of suction and pressure waves — which brings a mindblowing, orgasmic experience. While all of these talk about pleasure, Morari introduced a “band-aid” that withholds pleasure, solving the premature ejaculation issue prevalent with men.

2020 might just be the beginning, but CES showcasing sex technology is a huge step forward in encouraging a sex-positive society. If you’re still iffy about this technology, remember that you’re not the target audience and that you were born because your parents had sex.
