Lenovo unveils new IdeaPad Chromebooks, L15 Mobile Monitor

Build that mobile workstation for school or work

Creating your own mobile workstation for school or work isn’t as simple as most people make it out to be. For the most part, it requires sets of devices that are compatible with each other in the long run. Now, Lenovo plans to basically challenge with their own set of mobile devices to get you started. Enter the Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook and the Lenovo L15 Mobile Monitor.

Some brand new Chromebooks for work

For the laptop department, the Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook provides several key features that fit a mobile workstation. For starters, an 11th generation Intel Core i5 processor and 8GB of RAM provides suitable performance for this 2-in-1 laptop. Also, it comes with 512GB of SSD storage, which is quite ample for all your software and documents. In essence, it’s the ideal device to bring with you to work, or set down on the table for school.

Another nifty feature unique to the Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook is its 720p webcam for video conferencing. This is particularly useful if you’re not keen on spending a bit more for a dedicated webcam for your laptop. Finally, the IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook sports 10 hours worth of battery life, which is decent for work.

Apart from this laptop, Lenovo also announced the Lenovo IdeaPad 5i Chromebook. This device comes with hardware similar to the IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook, just without the webcam. Also, the IdeaPad 5i Chromebook is a standard laptop with a 14-inch IPS non-touch display.

 Your next, mobile 2nd screen

For most of you, a mobile workstation isn’t complete without a 2nd display to work on. Of course, the obvious benefit to having a 2nd display is an extended workspace, particularly for multitasking purposes. This is where the Lenovo L15 Mobile Monitor comes in with its 15.6-inch IPS, anti-glare display. Also, you can connect either your laptop or your smartphone to this mobile monitor for an extended viewing experience.

In terms of setting it up, it’s as simple as connecting the USB Type-C cable to supported devices. If workstation space is an issue, you can orient the monitor however you wish thanks to its adjustable foot. Also, it’s quite light and easy to carry around, making it the ideal on-the-go 2nd display option.

Prices and availability for these devices are as follows:

  • Lenovo IdeaPad 5i Chromebook (July 2021), IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook (June 2021); both starting at EUR 399
  • Lenovo L15 Mobile Monitor (September 2021, starts at EUR 229)

Apple’s new iPhone Pocket is a stylish way to carry your iPhone

This time, woven into the fabric of a modern accessory

Decades after dressing Steve Jobs, Issey Miyake’s legacy returns to Apple

Fashion meets tech — again.

Apple’s latest creation isn’t a new iPhone, but something to wear it in. Announced today, the iPhone Pocket is a collaboration between Apple and Japanese fashion house ISSEY MIYAKE, reimagining the way we carry one of the world’s most recognizable devices.

While this is the first official partnership between the two brands, Miyake’s influence has long been stitched into Apple’s story.

The minimalist yet iconic uniform that is Steve Jobs’ black turtlenecks were custom-made by Miyake himself.

Back in the 1980s, Jobs even approached Miyake with an idea: to design a uniform for Apple employees. That plan never took off, but decades later, the spirit of collaboration finds new form — not in a shirt, but in a beautifully woven accessory.

The iPhone Pocket draws inspiration from Miyake’s Pleats Please and Homme Plissé lines, famed for its permanently pleated, wrinkle-free designs.

Made in Japan, and co-designed with the Apple Design Studio, each bag is crafted from a single piece of innovative 3D-knit fabric that’s both stretchy and feather-light. It’s designed to fit any iPhone and, as Apple notes, “other pocketable items.”

Available in two strap lengths, it can be worn as a shoulder bag (or slung on an arm) or crossbody. The color palette is distinctly Miyake: lemon (neon yellow), mandarin (bright orange), purple, pink, peacock (turquoise), sapphire (rich blue), cinnamon (brown), and black.

Longtime fans might also feel a nostalgic nod to the iPod Socks — a whimsical early-2000s Apple accessory that turned practicality into playful design.

The iPhone Pocket launches Friday, November 14, as a limited release, available online and in select Apple Stores.

In New York, it makes its debut in SoHo which is Apple’s outpost in the city’s fashion district.  Prices start at $149.95 for the short strap and $229.95 for the long strap.
