While plenty of leaks have already surfaced about the upcoming Huawei P20 and P20 Pro launching here in Paris in two days, the smartphone giant has one more surprise up its sleeves, and it’s not what you think.

As teased by Huawei earlier, they will be announcing a third phone at their Paris event.

That phone will be called the Huawei Mate RS and is designed in partnership with luxury brand Porsche Design.

Reps from Huawei tell GadgetMatch this will be a completely different phone from the P20, P20 Pro, and Porsche Design Mate 10.

Earlier today while checking out the pre-event preps at the Grand Palais des Champs-Élysées, we spotted promo materials featuring the Mate RS with both Huawei and Porsche Design logos.

Huawei already teased the coming of a Porsche Design smartphone. Many assumed it would be dubbed the Porsche Design P20.

Details about the phone have been scarce and Huawei reps are still mum about the matter. Previously, there were rumors of a Huawei Mate smartphone with 512GB of onboard storage.

The phone will most likely also sport the same 40-megapixel third camera rumored to be on the P20 Pro. Leaked images of a smartphone with Porsche Design branding and a triple-camera setup have also recently surfaced.

OPPO’s sub-brand Realme has launched more than half a dozen phones in less than a year and is back with a new offering. The Realme 3 Pro is the successor to the Realme 2 Pro and intends to take on Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 7 Pro.

The phone adopts a similar design from the Realme U1 and sports a shiny plastic back that imitates glass. On the front is a 6.3-inch Full HD LCD, a water-drop notch, and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It also features splash and dust resistance, though an IP rating hasn’t been mentioned.

The phone is equipped with a Snapdragon 710 SoC and comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage in the base variant. Obviously, the storage can be expanded via a microSD card.

On the rear is a 16-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.7 aperture along with a 5-megapixel secondary sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. Realme added an Ultra HD mode that can capture detail-intensive pictures up to 64 megapixels by stitching multiples frames together. The front gets a 25-megapixel shooter for selfies and the Camera app supports auto scene recognition, beautification, nightscape mode, as well as smart HDR.

To improve the user experience, the phone comes with a VOOC 3.0 charger for quickly charging the 4000mAh battery. Added software functionality like GameBoost 2.0 will improve the overall experience by implementing FrameBoost and TouchBoost . It runs on ColorOS 6.0 based on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box.

The Realme 3 Pro is available in Nitro Blue and Lightning Purple color options and shall go on sale from April 29 via Flipkart and Realme.com. The 4GB option retails for INR 13,999 (US$ 200) and the 6GB option is marked at INR 16,999 (US$ 242).

Alongside the Realme 3 Pro, the brand also announced the launch of the Realme C2, an upgraded version of the Realme C1. It houses a 6.1-inch display and is powered by a MediaTek Helio P22 processor. The rear has a 13- and 2-megapixel dual camera setup, while the front has a 5-megapixel selfie shooter. Backing these internals is a 4000mAh battery and ColorOS 6.0 out of the box.

The phone is priced at INR 5,999 (US$ 86) for 2GB RAM with 16GB internal storage, and INR 7,999 (US$ 114) for 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. It will be available starting May 15 via Flipkart and Realme.com.

New leak reveals iPhone XI’s potential triple rear camera system

Is this our first look?

Can you believe that we’re already in the second quarter of the year? As is custom, smartphone leaks have started coming out of the woodwork. We already have glimpses of the industry’s potential future as early as now.

In the latest leak, an Apple case supplier has allegedly released the mold for the upcoming iPhone XI and XI Max. The pictured mold depicts a potential third-party case for the phones. As a result, the photos hint only at the iPhone’s potential exterior. The two photos popped up on both Weibo and Slashleaks.

Based on the photo, the iPhone XI and XI Max will have the same front panel as its predecessors. The phones will be mostly bezel-less except for the usual thick notch. There’s not much to differentiate it from the usual iPhone fare.

Comparatively, the phone’s rear is a whole new minefield. The upcoming iPhone will potentially ditch its traditional camera layout. The photos hint at a triple rear camera system. Embedded, the camera system is a huge square panel on the rear’s upper left corner. The panel also has a small slot likely reserved for an LED flash. It looks similar to the Huawei Mate 20’s square panel.

Of course, a mold is just a mold. The actual phone might still hide some surprises underneath. Likewise, the iPhone XI and XI Max might end up with a completely different design in the end. Definitely, Apple needs a new design revolution in the near future.

Lenovo releases teaser images, renders, and video of the Z6 Pro

Looks familiar somehow

Lenovo has been strangely absent from the smartphone spotlight for a while now. Last year, the company sputtered to life in fits and starts. Unfortunately, the company’s smartphone offerings laid low amid last year’s blockbuster year. Now, Lenovo is back, teasing an upcoming launch for an all-new flagship.

Ahead of an expected April 23 launch date, Lenovo has released a bunch of teaser material for the upcoming Z6 Pro. A few days ago, a Lenovo VP released a short teaser video and sample photos.

In the promotional video, Lenovo confirmed a few specifications. For one, the Z6 Pro will have the Snapdragon 855 and a new Hyper Vision camera. Meanwhile, a separate leak has confirmed 5G connectivity.

Meanwhile, the sample photos showcase the 48-megapixel camera’s capabilities in day- and night-time conditions. Another video purportedly shows the camera’s macro photography capabilities. Of course, without the actual phone, the photos and video might not mean much before the launch.

Besides the leaks from Lenovo’s personnel, the official Lenovo Weibo account posted a promotional video. Stylized as a more official promo, the video fully shows the phone in all its glory. In the video, the Z6 Pro will sport a waterdrop notch and a triple rear camera system.

(Strangely, the phone looks remarkably similar to the Huawei P30 series. For an industry that values even a little differentiation, the Z6 Pro shares the same camera layout, design, and waterdrop notch.)

With all the teasers, Lenovo is putting a lot of hype on the Z6 Pro. Of course, the company needs a new major player. Currently, the industry is dominated by only a few brands. Whatever Lenovo has in store, we’ll find out in a few days.
