Is Sony releasing a new DualSense V2?
Leak says so
The DualSense was a revelation for console gaming. The PlayStation 5’s controller vastly improved on its predecessor, offering a much more natural shape for a human grip. However, outside of the more premium Edge, the controller hasn’t received much updating. Is it time for an upgrade? A new leak says so.
Recently, Best Buy Canada posted a store page for a “PlayStation 5 V2 DualSense Wireless Controller.” The key here is the “V2.” Sony currently does not offer a V2 version of the current DualSense controller, making this a pretty big leak.
Only a short time after posting the page, Best Buy already took the page down. However, if you saw it in the wild, you might not have noticed anything different. The depicted controller looked exactly like a regular DualSense. It even had the same price. It does differ in one aspect, though: battery life.
According to the listing, the newer controller can last up to 12 hours on a single charge. The current iteration of the controller can only last between eight to nine hours. A three-hour upgrade is substantial, especially going by the same price tag.
Sony has not confirmed any news about an upcoming controller, though. As strong as the leak is, it’s hard to predict the coming of a V2 controller anytime soon.
