realme C15: Price and availability in the Philippines
A powerful budget smartphone under PhP 7K
Just days after the Indian launch, realme officially launches the C15 in the Philippines.
One among the firsts
The realme C15 is the first 6,000mAh-equipped smartphone that made its way in the Philippines. With an 18W fast charging technology, it can charge quickly through its microUSB port — especially with the bundled 9V/2A fast charger.
It also features an OTG reverse charging that can charge up other devices in need. It’s expected to run 57 days on standby mode, 60 hours of music playback with Spotify, 28 hours worth of YouTube videos, all-day Instagram, and even ten hours of gaming with PUBG.
Just like the realme C11, it runs on MediaTek Helio G35 processor but now comes in either 3GB or 4GB RAM options. There’s also a larger 64GB base storage with the ability to expand up to 256GB through microSD card slot that sits beside its dual nano SIM card slots.
Display is also similar. It has a 720p IPS LCD display that measures at 6.5-inches with 20:9 aspect ratio. It has a Mini-drop notch that houses an 8-megapixel AI front camera for clearer selfies.
Flipping the phone reveals a newer geometric gradient design — which they claim as a first on their phones. It’s a trapezoid that divides its back into three areas that all shine in varying angles when hit by light. It’s also textured which adds a better holding grip and makes it less prone to fingerprint smudges.
Other than that, it’s also the first C-series smartphone from realme that packs a quad-rear camera setup. The trendy square camera cutout houses its 13-megapixel f/2.2 AI wide camera that’s meant for your usual day-to-night scenarios. You can also get more fun and quirky with its 8-megapixel Ultra-Wide lens with a wider 109-degree FoV (Field of View). The two extra lens at the back are 2-megapixel f/2.4 B/W and retro sensors, both responsible for delivering better black and white and portrait shots altogether.
Other than the usual PIN and Face Unlock options, it now has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner (which the realme C11 lacks) for better security. It runs on the latest version of Android 10 with the realme UI skin — a close experience to stock Android. There are also built-in software apps and optimizations that make it run faster and last longer.
Pricing and Availability
The realme C15 is available in either Seagull Silver or Marine Blue color variants. The 3GB/64GB configuration is now available for purchase today (August 20) via Lazada at just PhP 6,490. If you’re willing to spend PhP 500 more, there’s another 4GB/64GB variant that retails for PhP 6,990. They will start selling the latter variant on August 21 (Friday) both online and offline stores nationwide.
A special artsy box awaits you
The realme C15 comes with an artsy doodle box designed by Vince Ricohermoso — a fan/artist who decorated his conventional realme C2 box with doodles and won in the #realmedoodlechallenge.
If you’re a die-hard realme fan who wants to collect a product packaging that you will never want to throw away, you can get this online-exclusive PH Squad Edition Box together with a 3GB/64GB-configured realme C15 for the same price at PhP 6,490 with only 1,000 units available. It will also be available today (August 20) through realme’s Lazada shop.
If you can’t get one today, they will have another batch through the realme Super Brand Day on August 28 (Friday).
When they unveiled the Vision Pro in 2023, Apple touted the wearable as the next big thing after the iPhone. Now, almost three years removed from the launch, the Vision Pro hasn’t really taken over the coveted spot occupied by the iPhone. Apple, according to a report, is allegedly canning the short-lived wearable.
According to MacRumors, Apple has reportedly given up on making the Vision Pro a thing. The team handling the wearable has supposedly been subsumed by other teams within Apple.
If true, the wearable’s end is unfortunate but not surprising. Despite being out for years, the Vision Pro has sold only a little more than half a million units with numerous returns from customers. Most recently, Apple updated the wearable with the M5 chip, but the move hasn’t revitalized the device’s status in Apple’s lineup.
Most of the complaints about the device stem from its exorbitant price or its cumbersome battery pack. Besides costing a whopping US$ 3,499, the Vision Pro is also difficult to move around with, especially because of its total weight and a battery pack that can get in the way.
To be clear, Apple has not officially discontinued the Vision Pro yet. The company continues to sell the version with the M5 chip. Apple can also restart development in the future.
However, the meantime retirement on future development does coincide with the recent restructuring inside the company. Tim Cook recently decided to step down as CEO with John Ternus as his replacement. Canning the Vision Pro might be Ternus’ first step in redefining Apple according to his plans.

YouTube makes picture-in-picture mode free for everyone globally
The update is rolling out globally now.
Picture-in-picture (or PiP) mode is a godsend for multitaskers. The feature lets users watch videos in a tiny floating window while doing other tasks. However, the feature isn’t readily available for all users. Or wasn’t, at least. YouTube is now rolling out PiP mode for free globally.
Previously, PiP mode was exclusive to YouTube users who pay for Premium or Premium Lite. It was also exclusive to the United States.
Now, YouTube is making the feature completely free for users all over the globe. It will be available for both iOS and Android versions of the app.
There’s still a catch, though. The free version is available only for “longform, non-music content.” The same goes for Premium Lite subscribers. Music is still an exclusive feature for those who pay for the regular version of Premium. Basically, there is no change for paying users or users in the United States.
Using PiP mode is simple. All you need to do is load up a video you want to watch in the background. Then, just exit the YouTube app and go about your other tasks. The video will be inside a floating, resizable window while you look at other things.
There’s no timeline on when the update will reach your device. However, YouTube has promised that it will roll out globally within the coming months.

OnePlus has reportedly merged with realme
Both brands were previously rumored for restructuring early this year.
OnePlus has a problem. For a while now, rumors have swirled about the company’s dissolution. For their part, the company has continued to deny the reports, citing business as usual. Likely to their dismay, the reports just keep coming. Today, sources have hinted that OnePlus has merged with realme.
Back in January, it was rumored that OnePlus would be closing up shop this year. Since the company very quickly denied the rumors, the report hardly made waves. However, a suspected merger with realme is more difficult to debunk.
For one, realme is itself in a very interesting position. Also back in January, realme was reportedly moving back into being a sub-brand of OPPO. Coupled together with the OnePlus debacle, all this internal restructuring seems par for the course.
According to Digital Chat Station on Weibo, OnePlus and realme have already concluded the merger. The two brands have reportedly united their Chinese and international operations under one roof. Likewise, their marketing will be the same. Pete Lau will still be the main head for this new division.
As with anything of this nature, take this with a grain of salt. OPPO, OnePlus, and realme have not issued any official statements concerning a merger or a shutdown for any brand.
