Nokia X5 (Nokia 5.1 Plus) is a more affordable X6, retains notch
This would do well in more markets
The Nokia X6 came out two months ago, and even though it was pegged as a budget phone with a notch, it wasn’t that affordable. That’s why we have the Nokia X5 launched earlier today.
Possibly named the Nokia 5.1 Plus when it hits other countries, the Nokia X5 is more affordable than the X6 while retaining a lot of key traits.
The first is the 5.86-inch 720p display with an aspect ratio of 19:9 because of the notch. On top, you can find the 8-megapixel selfie camera with the usual AI and portrait mode tricks.
Fortunately, the rear retains the dual-camera setup: a main 13-megapixel shooter with a secondary 5-megapixel sensor for measuring depth.
Since this is a cheaper model, there are some changes in hardware. The X5 settles for a Helio P60 processor (compared to the Snapdragon 636 of the X6), although the memory and storage configuration can go up to 4GB and 64GB, respectively.
And because this is the rejuvenated Nokia we’re talking about, it comes with an updated version of Android Oreo, which is kept alive by a 3060mAh battery.
As an X-series phone, it’s currently exclusive to China, just like the Nokia X6. Everyone can agree, however, that this could be a potential hit in other countries like India.
The lowest configuration with 3GB of memory and 32GB of storage retails for CNY 999 (US$ 150), and the one with 4GB memory and 64GB storage costs CNY 1,399 (US$ 210). Those prices are well below Nokia X6 pricing, making this a more attractive option for budget-conscious markets.
For colors, you have blue, black, or white to choose from.
