That’s how Caroline Spiegel explains her porn startup, Quinn, launching on April 13.
What’s so different about this website? Well, for one, it won’t have photos or videos, just text and audio. “Most visual media perpetuates the male gaze… all mainstream porn tells one story,” Caroline explains to TechCrunch. She continues to explain that with this porn format, “you don’t have to fit one idea of what a woman should look like” since users can imagine for themselves.
Just how did this 22-year-old college student, sister to Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel, decide on an adult entertainment startup? It was in her junior year at Stanford when she had to leave due to her anorexia struggle. Sexual dysfunction came along with the disorder and upon research, she found 30 FDA-approved drugs for men but none for women. Designed for women and by women (hopefully, as the platform is open to submissions), Spiegen hopes that Quinn will help eliminate stigma on female sexuality and masturbation.
“Our mission is for women to be more in touch with themselves and feel fucking great,” Caroline says, “It’s all about pleasure and good vibes.”
