When a friend made me try the Dyson Airwrap before, I was so amazed with how fast it styled my hair. Their products are engineered with the latest and exclusive hair technology, and I wanted to have one.

So when Dyson reached out with their newest product, the Dyson Airstrait straightener, I was thrilled to check it out.

Unboxing the Dyson Airstrait

The Dyson Airstrait package is just simple and straightforward. Other than the device itself, there’s a velvety heat-resistant mat plus the manual and safety guides in the box.

Dyson Airstrait Features

Here are some features of the Dyson Airstrait straightener:

Cleaning mode: The device automatically cleans itself when you turn it on.

Wet and dry hair mode: You can choose from wet or dry hair mode. For wet hair, the device will omit air and turn into a hair blower. You can opt use it before straightening your hair or you can do both simultaneously.

Cool mode: If you’re not a fan of hot air, the device has a Cool mode to help lock a style in place, especially if your hair is Type 4. You can experiment on this one whichever is more compatible with your hair.

Low or high mode: When drying your hair, you can choose between low and high setting.

Temperature control: You can choose to control the temperature for up to 140 degrees. There is also the Boost option, if you’re running a little late and you need to straighten your hair ASAP. I noticed in this option, though, there’s already a little steam that will come out of your hair.

Is this your GadgetMatch?

If you’re a person who likes to straighten your hair every day, I’d say this is worth the investment. Here are some pros and cons:

Pros:

The Dyson Airstrait straightens hair as fast as 10-15 minutes (or less, if your hair is thinner than mine).
It is safe. Compared to normal straighteners, it doesn’t heat on the outside.
It is very handy and easy to grip.
Straightened hair can last the following day.
Less to no steam coming out of your hair.
The device automatically stops when not in use.
The charger doubles as circuit breaker. It helps users avoid getting electrocuted when using the Airstrait in the bathroom or near washing areas.

Cons:

Not so travel-friendly. While it is useful, the charger and circuit breaker is too bulky and thus the device is not so travel-friendly.
It is a bit pricey, considering that it could only do limited styling.

The Dyson Airstrait is now available in the Philippines and Southeast Asia. It retails at Php 33,900.
