Huawei launched the much-awaited P30 series in Paris, France. Naturally, the GadgetMatch team expressed their thoughts and opinions. See how excited they were:
Made it! Let’s see what @HuaweiMobile has up its sleeves today! #RewriteTheRules pic.twitter.com/ffh4FmZ6HX

Last year the Huawei P20 Pro was THE camera to beat on a smartphone IMO. Can’t wait to see if the #HuaweiP30 will hold the same title this year 🤔 #RewriteTheRules

Cmon Huawei!!! i want another pink phone! 🙈 #RewriteTheRules

Huawei’s CEO Richard Yu started the show by announcing the P30 right away. Of course, some of us didn’t expect it to be showcased so soon.
It’s official. The Huawei P30. #RewriteTheRules pic.twitter.com/oQKr97U7bG

The presentation is a bit boring… Good thing the device is exciting! 😂 Tell me more about the camera, please.
— Dan Morial (@danielmorial) March 26, 2019
Is that it? I’m so hyped up with the phone but the presentation lacks pizzazz! #RewriteTheRules

However, it was just the beginning. Everyone was aware of the P30, but no one knew what else they were launching. Yu started by presenting the new, breathtaking colors for the P30 and P30 Pro, but one color really stood out.
Huawei’s newest colors scream nature and I love it. Breathing Crystal, Amber Sunrise, Pearl White, Black, Aurora — all of these look and sound nice! #RewriteTheRule

Audience reacts to this color. Wonder if folks will snatch this up over black? Last year in some markets the Twilight P20 outsold black, which is rare. #RewriteTheRules pic.twitter.com/275E4sdyJj

Would have liked it better if was more red 😅 #HuaweiP30
— Alven Villavicencio (@alveniscurly) March 26, 2019
The highlight of the event was the unveiling of the P30 and P30 Pro’s even better cameras, and Yu’s shade against Samsung’s Galaxy S10+. 👀
As a camera enthusiast, seeing that RYYB image sensor on the #HuaweiP30 is awfully interesting. #RewriteTheRules

With those cameras, I just couldn’t wait to get my hands on the #HuaweiP30! #RewriteTheRules

Would I still need a camera if the #HuaweiP30 can handle my astrophotography needs? 😍 #RewriteTheRules
— The MJ Jucutan (@mj_jucutan) March 26, 2019
Smartphone photography keeps getting better and better and #HuaweiP30 just really stepped it up one more time. The bumped-up ISO Sensitivity up to 409600, the 5x hybrid zoom and 10x digital zoom that even works in night mode, it’s too damn good to be true. #RewriteTheRules

The crowd was amazed when Huawei revealed their DxOMark score for the P30 Pro.

Huawei capped off the event by throwing shade at Snap’s Spectacles before announcing their partnership with Gentle Monster Eyewear.

‘Dewing Things Alone’ is the wallpaper for rainy season
Sometimes, you just gotta love the rain

Changing your wallpapers to suit the weather is perfectly valid behavior. If you’re in the mood to switch your wallpaper this rainy season, here’s one for you.
Angelikah Gustilo, the Philippine-based artist behind our well-loved Pride wallpapers, came up with yet another wallpaper to match your emotions.
Entitled “Dewing Things Alone”, this set of wallpapers evokes a feeling of comfort and being at home. It captures that serenity and peace you enjoy as the rain pours, living in the comfort of yourself and connecting on a mundane yet meaningful level.
To Gustilo, rainy days have always been a source of comfort as an only child. The rainy season gave her books which transported her to places, and hot drinks that made her warm and giddy — enough to ponder and look out of the windows and imagine what awaits when the storm is over.
These wallpapers are her own take on loving the rainy season, and she hopes there are people who can relate to her love for the rain.

GadgetMatch’s wallpaper ‘Fluid’ is a coming out story
GadgetMatch’s wallpaper for Pride Month embraces being queer

Happy Pride Month from the GadgetMatch team!
Continuing our celebration with the LGBTQ+ community, we have one more wallpaper to share.
Introducing Fluid, the artwork explores the concept of one’s sexuality — forever changing, forever molding, and forever discovering. The rainbow pattern is speckled with grain, suggesting noise as the obstacles in the journey to self-love and self-discovery.
On another note, the words “Let Me Be Perfectly Queer” are a nod to allowing yourself to embrace your authentic self without reservations. It’s choosing to let go of painful moments — and memories — that forced you to stay silent.
Fluid reminds us to allow ourselves to grow in the love we feel, even if it’s scary and different. The artwork is designed by Philippine-based artist, Angelikah Gustilo, who is also behind No Different, the wallpaper we released previously.
“In the last semester of my third year in University, I took a class by Alfred Marasigan and Hidde van der Wall titled Art of the Queer. The course allowed me to be less afraid of my own self-exploration journey, and I’m grateful to be able to showcase these simple pieces that are the gems of wisdom I took away from the class,” said Gustilo.
Download Fluid and set it as your wallpaper for your phone, tablet, or your laptop!

GadgetMatch’s wallpaper ‘No Different’ celebrates love and queer people
It’s all about embracing individuality

Happy Pride Month from the GadgetMatch team!
As part of celebrating love, freedom, and the LGBTQ+ community, we’ve asked an artist to create an artwork that depicts Pride.
Angelikah Gustilo, an artist based in the Philippines, came up with No Different. To Gustilo, No Different presents queer people as people — capable of loving despite the difference in orientation.
Through geometric shapes, Gustilo presented that being queer isn’t dictated by a certain look, or a certain manner you carry yourself. It’s being different; deviating from what the majority of society thinks is normal. The larger rectangle represents the space where everyone exists, regardless of their orientation.
