The Nintendo Switch 2 is official!
Here’s your first look
It’s real! After months of speculation (and a substantial leak earlier this week), Nintendo has finally announced the Switch 2. As expected, the teaser — as a teaser does — offers only a sneak preview of the upcoming console. Regardless, it’s the clearest picture we’ve seen ever of the sequel to the widely popular console.
In a short video posted on YouTube, Nintendo showcased the Nintendo Switch 2 in all its glory. No one was talking in the video, so we don’t know much about the actual hardware inside the console. However, it’s clear which aspects the company is focusing on.
For one, the Switch 2 is substantially bigger than the original consoles. Both the screen and the Joy-Cons are massive. Additionally, the bezels of the screen look thinner, especially when compared to the very first Switch. The chassis looks matte and potentially metal. The kickstand is even bigger than the evolved version in the OLED version, and it can bend at an even lower angle now.
The Joy-Cons, on the other hand, are no longer as colorful as they currently are. Instead, the launch versions are black. However, the rings surrounding the left and right sticks showcase a less bright blue and pink motif. The segment connecting the controller to the main units are likewise colored. Finally, they’re magnetically locked, rather than the rail system of the original.
To cap off, Nintendo showcased what looks like the next Mario Kart entry. They also confirmed that the console will be backwards-compatible for the previous generation’s games, physical or digital. However, there will be Switch 2 exclusive games moving forward.
For more details, Nintendo is hosting a special Nintendo Direct on April 2, 2025.

Anno 117: Pax Romana is available now for PC, consoles
As we discovered during a preview of the game, Anno 117 might be one of the coziest strategic simulators today. The new title does away with the intensity of pure combat to have players build up their version of Rome as an inexperienced politician thrust into the role of a Roman governor. Now, after the brief preview period, Anno 117: Pax Romana is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
While other simulators might have its players build an army to overwhelm everyone by force, Anno 117 has players build up their corner of Rome from the ground up.
For both beginners and veterans of the series, the game has a lengthy campaign mode to teach players the ropes of the new title. Specifically, the campaign features two character paths: Marcus — a young man desperately trying to earn his place in the aristocracy — and Marcia — Marcus’s sister who wants to prove that women can also forge their destiny in Rome.
Otherwise, the title also has a sandbox mode that has player pick between two starting areas. Latium is a safer option that offers safety near the heart of the Roman Empire. Meanwhile, Albion is a wilder province that provides seasoned players with more challenges.
The Standard Edition of the game is already available on Steam, Ubisoft Connect, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
On the other hand, the Gold Edition bundles the base game with the Year 1 Pass. This Pass includes three DLCs coming down the line: Prophecies of Ash, The Hippodrome, and Dawn of the Delta.

Red Dead Redemption is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2
The game is also coming to mobile and Netflix.
Ahead of Grand Theft Auto VI, Rockstar Games is giving the original Red Dead Redemption some time under the spotlight with newer machinery. The studio previously launched a remastered version for the PC, finally breaking its exclusivity to older consoles. Now, in less than a month, the gunslinging RPG is coming to even more modern consoles.
Red Dead Redemption is seen as one of the most important RPGs in history. Besides its tragic story, the game introduced Rockstar’s iconic open-world formula to a setting that, at the time, hadn’t been portrayed adequately in games. The series has since spawned an equally impressive sequel for the PlayStation 4 generation.
On December 2, Rockstar Games is bringing the original Red Dead Redemption, along with spinoff DLC Undead Nightmare, to more consoles. After beginning its remastered stint for PC, the game is now coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and mobile devices.
The version for modern consoles will get the same 60fps treatment as its counterpart on PC. It will also support HDR. Meanwhile, the Switch 2 version gets support for DLSS and mouse controls.
Importantly, those who already own the original game on older consoles (via backwards compatibility on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch) will get a free upgrade to the remastered version.
For mobile, the game will have an ergonomic control system. Also, Netflix subscribers will get the game for free with their subscription.
If you have yet to play one of the most important titles of the past two decades, now is your chance to enjoy the experience on newer hardware.
