OnePlus 6 earns an admirable score on DxOMark

OnePlus’ second entry is a decent one

Before the OnePlus 6 got launched, there were rumors of it registering a DxOMark score in time for its official unveiling. That didn’t pan out, but only because OnePlus was saving the score for today,

The imaging authority awarded the OnePlus 6 an overall score of 96, which puts it above the likes of the iPhone 8 and Galaxy Note 8, but below Chinese rivals such as the Mi Mix 2S and Mate 10 Pro.

Considering OnePlus isn’t known for great imaging, this is a pretty good showing. DxOMark praised the OnePlus 6’s photo capabilities, giving it a score of 100 in the photo category. The group claims it does “particularly well in categories such as autofocus, color, and exposure.”

Where the OnePlus 6 faltered a bit is in the video category, scoring only 87 points. DxOMark says it’s “by no means bad,” though there are better alternatives available if videography is your priority.

It’s important to note that while the OnePlus 6 is able to compete against the big boys, its price is noticeably lower than the competition’s, as well. Combining that fact with its DxOMark score and flagship-level hardware, this is still one of the best overall packages you can find in the market.

This is also a much better showing than what the OnePlus 5 pulled off last year when it earned a score of 87, although that used DxOMark’s older scoring system. Since then, the company has revamped its algorithms and adjusted the numbers accordingly.
