We all know — and feel free to agree — the ASUS ZenFone 3 is due to launch in May or June this year. What has been shrouded with mystery, however, is the exact launch date of the much-anticipated midrange smartphone.
Thankfully, we can finally put all the guessing to rest, as ASUS has published a teaser video for the upcoming ZenFone, one that reveals the date in question.
May 30th is the date ZenFone fans have been waiting for, when ASUS’ signature phone is all but assured to take the stage a day before this year’s Computex trade show in Taiwan kicks off. The launch event can be viewed live online at 2:00 p.m. Central time.
Based on the teaser clip, we’re likely to see at least three ZenFone 3 variants — one of which is reportedly a deluxe version with an all-metal build and a fingerprint-reader-slash-home-button on the chin.
If we had to guess, it’s probably the massive phone shown at the end of the trailer, leaving us to wonder if one of the remaining models takes after the ZenFone Max, whose claim to fame is an impressive 5,000mAh battery.
Regardless, we’re expecting ASUS to introduce a new design language for the ZenFone 3 line, hopefully ditching plastic in favor of premium build materials. Recent reports claim the standard ZenFone 3 will feature an octa-core Snapdragon 652 processor from Qualcomm, 3GB of RAM, a rear fingerprint sensor, and a USB-C port with fast charging.
At this point, the only thing certain about the ZenFone 3, besides its debut date, is that when it finally reaches the streets, it will be facing stiff release-day competition from the likes of the Vivo V3 Max, Xiaomi Mi 5, and the new Samsung Galaxy A phones, to name a few.
