Yahoo Answers will permanently shut down on May 4

The end of an era

Published

on

Launched as a knowledge-sharing platform in 2005, Yahoo Answers was a popular destination on the internet where you could find the most bizarre questions with equally insane answers. But starting April 20, it’ll be available in read-only mode, meaning you can’t ask or answer anything new.

And on May 4, the website will shut down entirely. In a note, Yahoo admits that the platform had become less popular over the years, prompting the company to shift its resources to other growth products.

It’s not very surprising because Yahoo Answers feels like a museum now. The service was top-rated at launch, but its shine faded as users started flocking other web portals like Google and social networking became the new buzzword. It also lost importance amid a host of new specialized services like Quora, which offered a far better ecosystem for Q&A content.

If you were an active Yahoo Answers user and want to get a copy of your content, you can request to download all the text or images you’ve posted to the service until June 30. You won’t be given other people’s questions or answers, however.

However, it’s unlikely you’d want to download a copy of your content. It’s a widely known fact that Yahoo Answers had lost its serious charm rather quickly and was filled to the brim with content that made no sense. The platform was a hotspot for college kids to crack jokes, ask extremely naive or irritating questions, and annoy others by posting irrelevant text or images. In the end, the site was a Buzzfeed writer’s paradise.

The biggest challenges of maintaining Q&A sites are — misinformation, trolls, manipulation, and even flame wars. Yahoo used to be a very busy portal a decade ago but has now lost its dominance to Google. Now that netizens have fled to better search engines, portals, and email services, Yahoo has a plethora of old products waiting in line for the disconnection.

As mentioned in our review, the Pura 70 series is all about its trio of cameras. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Huawei believes the flagship series capable enough to take professional photos. To mark the coming of the new lineup, Huawei, along with Vogue Philippines, hosted a gala to launch a photo gallery shot entirely with the Pura 70 series.

Branching from its XMAGE Awards ceremony, the gallery focused on a variety of themes including Faces, Moments, So Far So Close, Hello Life, Art & Fashion, Style, Focus x Time, and Action. Moments, in this case, was also separated into different categories like moments of time, moments of discovery, moments of smiles, and moments of beauty.

Each section in the gallery came from professional photographers and members of the Huawei community. For example, they featured Artu Nepomuceno from FotoMoto, Domcar Calinawan Lagto and Jamir Lyndon Lumbao from the Huawei community, and Kim Angela Santos from Vogue Philippines.

Apple reportedly releasing a foldable MacBook in 2026

A big screen folding into a laptop

Apple has consistently flirted with the idea of a foldable device over the years. However, the company has revealed neither hide nor hair of its first entry into the foldable market. Now, a new rumor hints that the brand’s first foldable device won’t be an iPhone. Instead, it might be a folding MacBook.

According to renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, a 20.0-inch (and an 18.8-inch) foldable display is coming in 2026. Rather than a foldable iPhone or iPad, it will work like a MacBook. Being that way, the device will not need an external keyboard. Users will instead type on the second screen.

Apple is reportedly working with LG Display for the foldable screen. The company’s screens will supposedly help Apple reduce screen creasing. One of the reported reasons why Apple hasn’t pulled the trigger on a foldable device is the current imperfections of the technology.

Amid the strength of this rumor, previous leaks have hinted at a foldable iPhone coming to Apple’s lineup. Of course, as we know, there hasn’t been a foldable iPhone yet. Now, with rumors ramping up again, it’s possible that Apple’s first foray into the foldable market is finally coming.

More ROG Ally X specs leaked

Including a doubly large battery

Published

on

Earlier this month, ASUS officially announced that the ROG Ally X is coming. The second-generation console promised big improvements to push the segment to even bigger heights. Of course, the brand is keeping its cards close ahead of the device’s launch on June 2. However, a new leak has revealed more changes coming to the handheld console.

First of all, as leaked by VideoCardz, the upcoming console will have a much beefier battery. Previously, ASUS confirmed that the upgrade will be more than just a “30 to 40 percent” increase. Now, the leak says that it’s a 100 percent increase, doubling the original’s capacity from 40Wh to 80Wh. That’s a gigantic increase for such a small device.

Despite the hefty increase, it will reportedly get an additional weight of “only” 70 grams. Because of a much thinner fan design, ASUS will keep its handheld console at a comfortable weight.

Besides those specs, the ROG Ally X will have an additional USB-C port somewhere. The exact position is currently unknown. However, the notable improvement is that they will have USB4 speeds.

As reported before, the console will have the same hardware as its predecessor — meaning, the same processor and display. However, it will have a slightly bumped RAM. Instead of only 16GB of RAM, it will carry 24GB of memory, potentially resulting in some slight improvement for performance.

Though the leak doesn’t reveal absolutely everything about the device, it’s a great start. And besides, June 2 is just around the corner, too.
