Hasselblad partnership
The OPPO and OnePlus merger has brought over the Hasselblad collaboration to OPPO. As indicated in the name, Hasselblad’s cooperation will mostly be felt in color tuning/calibration.
The plan will start with software improvements for natural color tuning. It will be a long-term goal for the partnership to enhance color calibration solutions for all OPPO mobile phones. The ultimate goal is to become the standard in camera color performance.
MariSilicon X
That superhero-like sounding name is OPPO’s home-cooked imaging neural processing unit. The aim is to output images that rival the best of the best in the mobile photography market. It improves machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) in a smartphone, leading to a better overall user experience.
MariSilicon X will save more battery life when taking photos and 4K videos, as the MariSilicon X delivers up to 18 TOP (trillion operations per second). In fact, shooting in 4K on a phone with MariSilicon X will consume 50 percent less power.
The next OPPO smartphones powered by the new NPU will enable users to produce photos with HDR at four times better – at 20 bit, 120db dynamic range, or 1 million to 1 contrast ratio.
Likewise, along with AI features like noise reduction algorithms and an improved RGBW sensor, 4K AI HDR Night Video capturing on OPPO smartphones will now be possible.
SuperVOOC
VOOC has come a long, long way from its earlier days. As noted in the specs sheet above, the Find X5 Pro supports 80W SuperVOOC and 50W AirVOOC. Those are crazy numbers especially considering most fast wireless chargers are still only clocking in at 30W. Thankfully, OPPO does offer a 50W wireless charger that you can purchase separately.
But the 80W SuperVOOC is even crazier. It promises to fill up the dual-cell 5000mAh battery from 0 to 50 percent in just 12 minutes. That’s just stupid fast.

Resident Evil movie reboot finally gets a scary trailer
Can you spot the Easter eggs for longtime fans?
After briefly losing its way in the middling fifth and sixth entries, the Resident Evil series rediscovered its way back to the survival horror genre with the seventh entry onwards. However, the series doesn’t have the best reputation in Hollywood with its lackluster reviews. Now, the Hollywood series wants to right the ship with the upcoming reboot, simply titled Resident Evil.
Much like the gaming franchise’s renaissance, the upcoming film heads to the survival horror genre with a frightful caper. Medical courier Bryan (Austin Abrams) is tasked with delivering a vital organ to somewhere outside Raccoon City. Along the way, he runs over a rabid woman, who just disappears when he steps out to check.
Forced to seek help at a nearby shack, he finds himself in a struggle for survival when he discovers monstrous beings lurking around. It gets worse when he returns to the city and finds it overrun with the zombie outbreak.
The trailer has a few Easter eggs, including a typewriter, one of the most traditional ways that the game series uses to save games. Director Zach Cregger (Weapons) promises that the movie itself will have more Easter eggs for longtime fans of the series.
Resident Evil will premiere in theaters on September 18.
