Redmi didn’t just drop the Note 14 series earlier this month. They also gave us the Redmi Buds 6 and 6 Pro, rounding out the complete Redmi experience.

Naturally, I had to grab the Redmi Buds 6 to see if we’d click. Could they be my next daily driver — or even, dare I say, GadgetMatch? Let’s see if we have the pulse for it.

First Look

At first glance, the Redmi Buds 6 lean into a minimalist design, no matter which colorway you pick. I got mine in Coral Green, but it’s also available in Night Black and Cloud White. All options sport a metallic decorative logo that adds a sleek, modern touch to their look.

While the design is elegant — reminiscent of Redmi’s other devices — the lightweight plastic material leaves much to be desired. It feels flimsy in a way that cheapens the otherwise refined aesthetic.

Thankfully, the design isn’t just about looks. It’s practical, too. The charging case features an upgraded battery display that lets you check its level simply by opening the lid or pressing a button.

Bonus points: the case flashes when it’s time to recharge. It’s a subtle yet thoughtful detail that makes a difference in daily use.

First Date

Once you pop these buds in, their lightweight build feels comfortable and secure, thanks to their ergonomic design.

I took them for a spin — literally — on my commutes, during workouts, and even while zoning out in a café. They stayed snug in my ears with no signs of discomfort, even after hours of use.

What really stood out was the active noise cancellation (ANC). For an entry-level pair of earbuds, the ANC is surprisingly capable.

I’m no audiophile, but I noticed how well it muffled the harsh wind when riding a motorcycle. For those who need to stay aware of their surroundings, the three transparency modes work seamlessly.

The Redmi Buds 6 also shine when it comes to calls, thanks to dual-mic AI noise reduction. Voices come through loud and clear, making this a reliable option for quick meetings or catching up with friends.

And if you’re the type who loves to make things “yours,” these earbuds can be paired with the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G (or any Xiaomi-compatible smartphone) for a personalized sound experience with Sound ID.

First Impressions

The Redmi Buds 6 balance affordability and performance in a way that casual users will appreciate.

With up to 10 hours of single-use playback and 42 hours of total battery life (thanks to the charging case), these earbuds are perfect for long commutes, binge-listening, or back-to-back calls.

While the plastic build feels less premium than its design suggests, the comfort, practical features, and solid sound performance make up for it.

For under EUR 40 or PhP 1,699 in the Philippines, the Redmi Buds 6 is an easy recommendation for those looking for affordable wireless earbuds that don’t skimp on the essentials.
