Brazil suspends iPhone sales in the country

If it doesn’t have a charger included

Published

on

The world is cracking down against Apple’s still-controversial decision to remove the free charging adapter from the iPhone’s box. A few countries have already threatened to force the company into either bringing the accessory back or adopting USB-C as a standard. Brazil, already a proponent in the global campaign previously, is ramping up its efforts by suspending iPhone sales in the country.

According to the Brazilian government (via The Verge), Apple cannot sell any new iPhones locally without the free charging adapter. The decision alleges that removing the accessory ultimately burdens the consumer with an incomplete purchase. It also states that Apple can easily replicate its environmentally conscious efforts by simply adopting USB-C.

Other countries are also pressuring Apple to do the same. Whether or not Apple does so is another question. For now, Brazil faces a suspension in sales until further notice. Additionally, the company has to pay a fine approximating US$ 2.3 million. The amount itself shouldn’t be a huge deal for Apple, but this is their second such fine since over a year ago. The suspension should put additional pressure as well.

Critically, Apple is scheduled to host its Far Out even in less than a day’s time. The upcoming iPhone 14 series will make its much awaited debut at the event. Though Apple likely has its logistics planned, it will be interesting to see how the company proceeds with mounting pressure from several countries including its own home turf.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales is getting a PC port

Coming later this fall

Published

After the first one got a much-awaited port, it was only a matter of time before a second webslinger pops up on PC. Enjoying a much shorter lead time than the first game, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is officially getting a PC port later this year.

Earlier this year, Sony released the official port for the first game, Marvel’s Spider-Man, featuring Peter Parker as the titular superhero. At the time, Insomniac and Nixxes Software (the studio behind the port) only had perfunctory plans to bring Miles Morales along for the PC ride.

In practically no time at all, Sony has announced the official coming of the second game through its own teaser trailer. Though the trailer does not end with a release date, it will launch sometime in the fall of this year.

In terms of ports, Sony has found massive success in bringing its formerly exclusive games to more markets. Now, PC players can finally get access to critically acclaimed title from consoles. In Spider-Man’s case, various modders have already created a thriving community for the first game. One such segment involves replacing Peter’s model with other characters like Stan Lee.

Will Miles Morales get the same hype and fanfare? Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales continues the story started by Peter Parker. After being bitten by a radioactive spider, Miles sets off on his own adventure with electrifying powers.

If you can’t wait for the PC port, the game is still available for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
