Infinix NOTE 40 Series now official

Featuring All-Round FastCharge 2.0

Published

Speed is the theme as the Infinix launches the Infinix Note 40 Series in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. The company held the event at the Sepang International Circuit to put an emphasis on their All-Round Fast Charge 2.0 technology.

The NOTE 40 Series is comprised of four (4) smartphones: NOTE 40, NOTE 40 Pro, NOTE 40 Pro 5G, and NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G.

Each one is equipped with the All-Round FastCharge 2.0 tech. Specifically, these are 100W Multi-Speed FastCharge, Wireess MagCharge, and a chip that the company developed themselves that supports multi-function charging modes.

The entire series also features 3D Curved 120Hz AMOLED Display, 108MP main camera with OIS support, Sound by JBBL, and many other features.

All-Round FastCharge 2.0

Infinix is no stranger to pushing the boundaries in Fast-Charging technology. Just a little while back, we were able to test for ourselves their insane 260W&110W All Round FastCharge prototype. That surely got some attention and their implementing some of those to FastCharge 2.0.

Key to this 2.0 edition is the Cheetah X1 chip. It is tailor-made to power Infinix’s FastCharge 2.0 feature. The chip functions as a central information hub that streamlines processes related to charging. Intelligent algorithms assess which components require power and efficiently distribute it.

Three modules backstop the Cheetah X1: the Support, Safety, and Power Monitor modules. First, the all-round Support module accommodates eight charging scenarios and consolidates functions by gathering protocols and adjusting charge accordingly.

These eight scenarios include the following:

  • 100W multi-speed wired charging
  • wireless charging
  • wired reverse charging
  • wireless reverse charging
  • bypass charging
  • AI charging protection for night charging
  • extreme-temp tech for -20 degrees Celsius
  • multi-protocol charging

To put all of these into action, Infinix also introduced accessories to take full advantage of all these charging innovations. There’s the Infinix MagKit for a convenient charging experience. It’s not too dissimilar from Apple’s MagSafe charging for iPhone. Then there’s the magnetic charging pad called the MagPad, and the magnetic power bank called MagPower.

Active Halo, Folax

The NOTE 40 Series also comes with the Active Halo feature. Infinix describes it as “lifelike light pulsations.” They can be seen on the camera module and indicates various activities like notifications, calls, playing games, music, charging, as well as using the voice assistant named Folax.

Folax has a pre-installed, stand-alone app that will assist you in many different ways. The app primarily highlights Close Accompany, Content Creation, Life Helper, and Social Assistance. The assistant is also present in mobile gaming.

Mobile Gaming

Folax is just one of many AI features related to mobile gaming available through XOS 14 along with the chipsets equipped on the NOTE 40 Series. These are the Dimensity 7020 and Helio G99 Ultimate chipsets. They enable features like Ask AI and AI wallpaper generator.

On top of that, the NOTE 40 Series comes with up 24GB of RAM for improved multi-tasking which works in tandem with the vacuum cooling system for an efficient and immersive mobile gaming experience. There’s also XBOOST Frame Rate Control which optimizes performance for popular MOBA and FPS games.

Lastly, audio is enhanced since the dual speakers on the NOTE 40 Series are fine-tuned by JBL.

Capable cameras

The NOTE 40 Series features a 108MP main shooter with 3x Lossless Superzoom. It also has OIS for steadier shots when taking videos.

Users can also simultaneously record with the main shooter and the front 32MP camera. It also has a built-in Vlog Clipper feature for instant vlog content from the stuff you shoot.

Infinix NOTE 40 Series pricing and availability

The Infinix NOTE 40 Series is available in March 2024 and will come in Vintage Green, Obsidian, Blackl, and Titan Gold colors. Infinix and BMW group company DesignWorks are also collaborating on a special Racing Edition available later on.

Infinix alsolaunched several compatible IOT products, including a GaN 68W FastCharger, wireless charging MagPad, MagPower, and MagCase accessories (forming the MagKit), XBuds 3 WE earphones, and XWatch 3 WE smartwatch.

Apple reportedly gives up on the Vision Pro

But Apple will continue to sell the current model.

Published

When they unveiled the Vision Pro in 2023, Apple touted the wearable as the next big thing after the iPhone. Now, almost three years removed from the launch, the Vision Pro hasn’t really taken over the coveted spot occupied by the iPhone. Apple, according to a report, is allegedly canning the short-lived wearable.

According to MacRumors, Apple has reportedly given up on making the Vision Pro a thing. The team handling the wearable has supposedly been subsumed by other teams within Apple.

If true, the wearable’s end is unfortunate but not surprising. Despite being out for years, the Vision Pro has sold only a little more than half a million units with numerous returns from customers. Most recently, Apple updated the wearable with the M5 chip, but the move hasn’t revitalized the device’s status in Apple’s lineup.

Most of the complaints about the device stem from its exorbitant price or its cumbersome battery pack. Besides costing a whopping US$ 3,499, the Vision Pro is also difficult to move around with, especially because of its total weight and a battery pack that can get in the way.

To be clear, Apple has not officially discontinued the Vision Pro yet. The company continues to sell the version with the M5 chip. Apple can also restart development in the future.

However, the meantime retirement on future development does coincide with the recent restructuring inside the company. Tim Cook recently decided to step down as CEO with John Ternus as his replacement. Canning the Vision Pro might be Ternus’ first step in redefining Apple according to his plans.

YouTube makes picture-in-picture mode free for everyone globally

The update is rolling out globally now.

Published

on

Picture-in-picture (or PiP) mode is a godsend for multitaskers. The feature lets users watch videos in a tiny floating window while doing other tasks. However, the feature isn’t readily available for all users. Or wasn’t, at least. YouTube is now rolling out PiP mode for free globally.

Previously, PiP mode was exclusive to YouTube users who pay for Premium or Premium Lite. It was also exclusive to the United States.

Now, YouTube is making the feature completely free for users all over the globe. It will be available for both iOS and Android versions of the app.

There’s still a catch, though. The free version is available only for “longform, non-music content.” The same goes for Premium Lite subscribers. Music is still an exclusive feature for those who pay for the regular version of Premium. Basically, there is no change for paying users or users in the United States.

Using PiP mode is simple. All you need to do is load up a video you want to watch in the background. Then, just exit the YouTube app and go about your other tasks. The video will be inside a floating, resizable window while you look at other things.

There’s no timeline on when the update will reach your device. However, YouTube has promised that it will roll out globally within the coming months.

OnePlus has reportedly merged with realme

Both brands were previously rumored for restructuring early this year.

OnePlus 13

OnePlus has a problem. For a while now, rumors have swirled about the company’s dissolution. For their part, the company has continued to deny the reports, citing business as usual. Likely to their dismay, the reports just keep coming. Today, sources have hinted that OnePlus has merged with realme.

Back in January, it was rumored that OnePlus would be closing up shop this year. Since the company very quickly denied the rumors, the report hardly made waves. However, a suspected merger with realme is more difficult to debunk.

For one, realme is itself in a very interesting position. Also back in January, realme was reportedly moving back into being a sub-brand of OPPO. Coupled together with the OnePlus debacle, all this internal restructuring seems par for the course.

According to Digital Chat Station on Weibo, OnePlus and realme have already concluded the merger. The two brands have reportedly united their Chinese and international operations under one roof. Likewise, their marketing will be the same. Pete Lau will still be the main head for this new division.

As with anything of this nature, take this with a grain of salt. OPPO, OnePlus, and realme have not issued any official statements concerning a merger or a shutdown for any brand.
