At the start of the month, several Chinese brands postponed their much-awaited launches in light of the passing of a political figure in China. Naturally, these brands are scrambling to find new dates for their new products. Now is finally time for one of them to emerge from the shadows. MediaTek has launched the new Dimensity 8200.

Built for higher-end smartphones, the Dimensity 8200 offers flagship-level performance for cheaper price tags. Inside, the chipset sports four Arm Cortex-A78 cores going up to 3.1GHz, while supported by a Mali-G610 GPU. It also has an AI processing unit for more intelligent tasks.

Improving gaming performance, the chipset comes with a HyperEngine 6.0 system. Complemented with Intelligent Display Sync 2.0, smartphones with the chipset automatically adjusts refresh rate and framerate to accommodate gaming based on the game. It can also support 120Hz WQHD+ and 180Hz Full HD+ displays.

For cameras, the Dimensity 8200 features the Imagiq 785 ISP, a processor capable of supporting up to 320-megapixel photos. It can shoot 14-bit HDR videos using three cameras simultaneously. The AI processing unit can also reduce noise in low-light conditions.

Naturally, the new chipset can support sub-6GHz 5G and Wi-Fi 6E connections. It also has Bluetooth LE Audio technology to support clear audio using wireless setups.

Currently, MediaTek has not announced any smartphones which will carry the chipset. However, the brand promises new phones coming later this month.

AI-powered suite now covers languages spoken by nearly 74% of the world

Samsung has announced that Galaxy AI has expanded by adding two new languages: Filipino and Gujarati.

Filipino is used daily by an estimated 87 million people and is the national language of the Philippines.

Gujarati, meanwhile, is spoken primarily by citizens of the Indian state of Gujarat. An estimated 62.5 million speak the language.

Both new languages were developed in close collaboration with Samsung Research Centers in Indonesia and India, respectively.

With the new update, Galaxy AI will now support a total of 22 languages. The database now accounts for languages spoken by nearly 74% of the global population, or roughly 5.9 billion people.

This strengthens Samsung’s ongoing commitment to lowering language barriers and bringing meaningful mobile AI experiences to more people.

Samsung users in even more regions can now access Galaxy AI’s suite of intelligent features designed to make communication and productivity easier and more intuitive.

This includes Live Translate for real-time, two-way voice and text translations for calls. There’s also Interpreter, which translates in-person conversations instantly through a split-screen view.

Other AI-powered features include Chat Assist, Note Assist, Transcript Assist, and Browsing Assist.

Such features were created with deep linguistic understanding and regional insight to ensure Galaxy AI adapts naturally to the ways people communicate.

Galaxy AI expanding at unprecedented pace

Samsung added that Galaxy AI has quickly become part of daily routines for millions of users around the world.

At the Galaxy AI Forum, Samsung shared that more than 70% of Galaxy S25 users regularly engage with Galaxy AI and Google Gemini features.

In the Philippines, there have also been a double-digit increase in Galaxy AI appeal, based on a consumer study conducted from August to September 2025.

In particular, the study found out that 40% of Filipinos find Live Translate and Call Assist “appealing”.

Since its debut with the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy AI has been expanding at an unprecedented pace. Samsung is on track to bring the suite to over 400 million devices by the end of 2025.

The suite is not limited to Samsung’s flagships like the S series and Z foldables; users on A series devices and some of the company’s tablets also feature Galaxy AI.

Samsung previews its first trifold smartphone

No one knows when it’s launching yet.

Huawei has enjoyed a tremendous head start in the trifold segment. There are a few alternatives, but the Chinese brand’s Huawei Mate XT is still head and shoulders above the rest. Today, Samsung is showing that it wants to stake a claim on the segment. During the recent Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit, the Korean company showcased its upcoming trifold screen.

Compared to more traditional foldables today, the trifold smartphone packs in three screens in a folding form factor. Naturally, it’s a chunky device but it also has the largest screen available in a phone format.

At the summit, Samsung enclosed its upcoming device in a glass case (via The Chosun Daily). Unfortunately, because it’s in its early stages, the company did not realistically show how the device will fold. It did, however, play an artist’s depiction. Compared to the Mate XT which folds into a “Z,” the unnamed Samsung device folds into a “G” (for Galaxy, maybe?).

Because it’s in development, we don’t know when Samsung plans to release a final product. Heck, we don’t even know if this is the final product. It is, however, telling that Samsung isn’t bending the screen during the summit.

Since the segment is still so sparsely populated, the pressure is on to release a true competitor to challenge the Huawei Mate XT. Will Samsung be the first one to truly challenge the Chinese brand?
