Samsung calls off its partnership with fake Supreme in China

After drawing the ire of hypebeasts around the world, Samsung is finally pulling out from its collaboration with the knock-off Supreme brand in China.

It was last December when Samsung China announced its partnership with the lifestyle brand, knowing full well that it isn’t the original company based in New York.

However, working with an imitation didn’t fly well with both Samsung fans and those who value the authenticity of actual Supreme products. Two days after the initial announcement, Samsung China said it was re-evaluating the partnership.

Now, nearly two months later, Samsung confirmed in a Weibo post that it’s no longer working with Supreme Italia, which is the copycat of the original brand.

While Supreme Italia is actually allowed to operate thanks to a win in court against the legit Supreme, any sort of connection with a company as big and influential as Samsung isn’t necessary, and the Korean tech giant eventually realized that.

The timing seems overdue, but it definitely needed to happen before Samsung’s Unpacked event hits its stride. On February 20, the company will release a new line of Galaxy S10 flagship smartphones, as well as a foldable phone and possibly a new sports-oriented smartwatch.

According to a 2025 Kantar Study, YouTube is the No. 1 video streaming platform in the Philippines in terms of reach.

The same study mentions that 97% of Filipinos in rural Visayas and Mindanao, two major island groups in the country, have watched online TV programs on YouTube in the past month.

Another significant finding is that the streaming platform is providing a 60% incremental reach beyond traditional linear TV.

This proves that YouTube is an essential bridge to Filipino TV viewers, specially in this era. The platform has transformed from just being a video hosting site to an all-in-one entertainment hub that spans traditional TV programs and both longform vlogs and shortform trending clips.

Given this massive gravitational pull, YouTube has partnered with media giants ABS-CBN, GMA, and TV5. This is to ensure the best content, from news to live sports, is available to every YouTube subscriber.
