Before you watch Captain America: Brave New World
A quick rewind
The latest Marvel Cinematic Universe or MCU flick is upon us. Captain America: Brave New World is showing in cinemas soon. With over a decade of history and an entire phase that can be confusing for more casual viewers, it can be a challenge to just keep up.
Fret not, we’re here to give you, in chronological order, a list of events as well as recommended movies and shows to watch in order to prepare for Sam Wilson as the new Captain America.
Captain America: Winter Soldier
This is where we’re first introduced to Sam Wilson. He meets then Captain America Steve Rogers while jogging in the vicinity of the Washington Monument. It is in this scene that we first hear “On Your Left” which becomes somewhat of a catch phrase between Rogers and Wilson.
Wilson goes on to assist Captain America in the rest of the film as Falcon – a soldier equipped with a unique flight unit.
I say this is a must-watch. It establishes the relationship between Rogers and Wilson. Also, it’s really just a darn good watch. Still one of the best MCU films.
Captain America Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame
Many consider Civil War as Avengers 2.5 given how many heroes are present and how impactful the movie is in the state of the Avengers. As for Sam, it is in these movies that we further see his relationship develop with Stever Rogers and Bucky Barnes AKA The Winter Soldier.
You can probably skip these three movies. Just know that in Civil War, Wilson sides with Rogers and Barnes. That continues all the way to the two mammoth Avengers films.
There are, however, two key scenes in Endgame that you might want to check out. First is when Wilson alerts Rogers that they’re coming to help with the iconic “On Your Left” phrase. Second, and most importantly, it is in this movie that Rogers gives Sam Wilson the Captain America Shield, thereby passing the mantle to him.
It’s also in these three films that we’re introduced to the other key figure in Brave New World. That’s none other than Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. Ross, in these movies, is a general turned Secretary of State. He was played by the late William Hurt. Harrison Ford assumes the role in Brave New World.
Thunderbolt Ross has been present in the MCU from the beginning. His character is mostly tied with Bruce Banner and the Incredible Hulk. It’s a key connection that will become apparent as Ross turns into the Red Hulk in Brave New World.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
This is another must-watch. It’s a six-episode series on Disney+ and serves as Sam Wilson’s origin story as the new Captain America.
Instead of taking up the mantle right away as Steve Rogers wished, Wilson returns the Captain America shield to the government.
The series sees him and Bucky Barnes deal with the consequences of “The Blip” from Endgame and how it’s affected the people on earth. It shows how Wilson’s reluctance turns into resolve as he finally accepts the mantle of Captain America.
The Eternals, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
No need to sit through this if you don’t feel like it. Just know that this movie ends with a Celestial – a cosmic being born out of the destruction of planets – sticking out of the surface of the earth. It’s something that has remained unaddressed in the MCU until Brave New World.
In one of the trailers for the film, Thunderbolt Ross shows that the Celestial bears a new element: one that’s stronger than Vibranium. That element, at that point, was considered the most valuable element on earth. The movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever tackles how many nations tried to infiltrate Wakanda with hopes of obtaining the rare element.
The stronger element in question is Adamantium. Fans of X-Men and Wolverine know that it is the exact same element/metal that makes up Wolverine’s bones.
There’s more lore behind it that’s explored in different Wolverine movies. But you don’t really need to watch all of that now. Just know that Adamantium is stronger than Vibranium and it’s a key resource that will be explored in Brave New World.
Captain America: Brave New World in cinemas
Captain America: Brave New World is coming to theaters soon. In the US, it starts showing on February 14. In the Philippines, the movie will premiere on February 12.
The movie is best experienced in IMAX and 4DX. IMAX and 4DX ticket holders will get special movie premium items when they purchase their tickets.

The Legend of Zelda film gets its first official photos
Bo Bragason and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth play Zelda and Link, respectively.
The Legend of Zelda might be one of the hardest video games to adapt. After all, how do you write a script for a protagonist who never talks? But, by God, Nintendo is doing it anyway. Now, the company has released the first official images from the upcoming live action film’s production.
The upcoming Zelda film has had a long production cycle. First announced in 2023, it was only earlier this year when Nintendo put a date to the film’s premiere: March 26, 2027. Even now, we don’t know much about the film.
Over the weekend, unofficial photos showed that product started its filming in New Zealand. Unofficial photos don’t really mean much except for those who hang around the rumor mill, but they can spiral towards those excited for the film’s release. To get ahead of the rumors, Nintendo released official photos, over the Nintendo Today app, which show both Link and Princess Zelda.
Notably, Zelda, the archetypal princess in distress, isn’t wearing her usual princess’s garb. Rather, she’s wearing the blue gear from the Breath of the Wild duology, where the princess had a more active role in saving Hyrule. Bo Bragason, who plays the princess, will likely take on a more front-and-center role.
Link, played by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, is wearing his more traditional green clothing from the past games. Though the film looks like it’s adapting the most recent duology, it might be an entirely different story, based on Link’s different clothes.

KPop Demon Hunters 2 is reportedly scheduled for 2029 premiere
That’s a pretty long wait.
“Golden” must be the most popular song this year. Months after the launch of KPop Demon Hunters, the catchy song is still an earworm. Capitalizing on the hit’s success, Netflix is already considering a sequel. Now, KPop Demon Hunters 2 has reportedly been confirmed with a distant release window.
After less than a year, KPop Demon Hunters is already Netflix’s most-watched title ever. The platform was even confident enough to release the film (and a special singalong version) in select theaters. Soon after the success, Sony Pictures Animation and Netflix kept a potential sequel in mind.
Now, according to Deadline, Netflix has greenlit the sequel for production. KPop Demon Hunters 2, or whatever it might be called, will reportedly premiere sometime in 2029.
No, it’s not just you. Four years is a lengthy wait for a sequel. Then again, animated films take much longer to make. For example, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, coincidentally also coming from Sony Pictures Animation, will premiere in 2027, which is also four years after the previous film.
However, if the Spider-Verse trilogy is any indication, the longer production time can easily churn out a film that tops charts. Both Across the Spider-Verse and KPop Demon Hunters are easily the top animated contenders of its respective years.

@onepiecenetflix Fire Fist has arrived, Nakama!! 🔥👊🔥 We’re thrilled to welcome Xolo Maridueña to the crew as Portgas D. Ace in ONE PIECE: Season 3! 🏴☠️🔥
Portgas D. Ace joining the Netflix’s One Piece sets up the live adaptation’s expansion with the broader Arabasta Saga for Season 3.
Ace, or Fire Fist, is a crucial character, and briefly appeared after the end of the Drum Island arc to meet Luffy and help the latter’s crew in Alabasta.
His introduction is important to set up the events of Season 3, as well as the future conflict with Marshall D. Teach, or Blackbeard.
But of course, as much as fans want to get ahead of themselves, Season 2 will also set up several events and open the live action world to wider horizons for every stop their favorite Straw Hat pirates make. There’s a lot to look forward to.
