As condos in the Metro become smaller, maximizing one’s living space and keeping it clean becomes of utmost importance. A smaller space can easily look a lot more cluttered if kept unclean. Enter, Dyson’s new tech solution for your flat: The Dyson Omni-Glide.

It’s the first-ever Dyson vacuum cleaner engineered for daily cleaning in city homes, making it the perfect choice for users who like to vacuum often and get into difficult nooks and crannies. Lighter and using less space than the popular V-series, the Omni-Glide allows you more maneuverability on hardwood floors. This, through its 360-degree, omnidirectional head. The machine can also lie flat, helping you reach under furniture.

“We’re pioneers in the vacuum cleaner industry — we created our cyclone technology, removed the bag, and cut the cord with the introduction of our powerful cord-free machines. Today, we’re introducing a brand new way to clean hard floors with the Dyson Omni-glide vacuum,” said James Dyson, Founder and Chief Engineer.

“The new omnidirectional Fluffy™ cleaner head is a true testament to our engineering capabilities, and is powered by a Dyson Hyperdymium motor, and features two counter-rotating brush bars that spin at the same speed for pick up in both directions,” he added.

Accessories

The Omni-Glide also comes with useful accessories. The Purple/Iron/Nickel model gives you the combination tool, mini motorised tool, and worktop tool while opting for the Gold/Iron/Nickel model ads the all-new light pipe crevice tool into that list. It’s something that truly elevates the cleaning experience when it comes to getting into those in-between spaces in your sofa. You can finally see whether you’re truly done cleaning those dark spaces.

A lot of the accessories are washable, too. The main accessory of the vacuum, the Omnidirectional Fluffy cleanerhead is not only high in maneuverability, it doesn’t scratch your precious floor while being easy to clean. A quick wash and rinse in the sink, let it dry completely, and you’re ready to go again the next day.

Battery life

Lighter doesn’t mean less powerful. The Dyson Omni-Glide does have a shorter run time than other Dyson vacuums. It’s about 20 minutes in eco-mode which is just enough for a quick clean. You can, however, get extra batteries if you want to have a longer run with it on weekends.

Bin clean up

The frame does allow for a smaller bin, making trips to the wastebasket a little more often. It does, however, make it easy on the hands with an ejection mechanism and a rotary catch, to drive out dust in one smooth action. A silicone collar wipes down the mesh shroud to drive out dust without dirtying your hands.

The Omni-Glide or the V12?

Which latest release should you get? It really depends on your cleaning style. Fans of the V-series tend to go for deeper cleans that happen once a week or so. It’s for tougher jobs and for a dedicated amount of hoovering time. The Omni-Glide, meanwhile, is great for people who like to do quick cleans on the daily basis.

A quick morning declutter, a post-meal hoover to make sure there aren’t a lot of edible debris on the floor. It’s a light, nifty thing that gets the job done but it’s not for heavy use to cover much bigger spaces. This is why we highly recommend it for city-dwellers. Those who prefer living in flats and keeping them in tip-top shape all the time.

How the HUAWEI Active Rings run inspired my next streak

One active morning turned into a streak I wanted to keep!

There are days when running feels like a routine and there are mornings when it feels like a gift.

The HUAWEI Active Rings Fun Run landed perfectly on one of those good mornings. I woke up before the sun, optimistically laced my shoes, and took my place at the SM Mall of Asia Complex, where a thousand runners gathered with the same intention.

Everyone wanted to move with purpose and enjoy a moment that centered on fitness and a little glow from our smartwatches.

Finding my rhythm with my Active Rings

HUAWEI partnered with RUNRIO and a full roster of lifestyle staples like GCash, Shopee, Nature’s Spring, and URC. It created a space that felt alive even before anyone started running.

There were giant inflatables, interactive photo walls, and booths with snacks and hydration that framed the Race Village.

When the run began, the energy pushed me forward. The seaside breeze reminded me why I loved running outside. HUAWEI designed this event for their community of users and I felt that intention with every step.

It felt easy to check my stats and stay on pace because the watch tracked everything that mattered without distracting me.

I was inspired when seasoned runners passed me by, whereas some of them would later claim the top spots. The runners around me boosted me with energy that I wanted to match. They were competitive in a way that felt inspiring.

The little moments that made the morning sweeter

After crossing the finish line, I wandered around the Race Village again. I watched runners take photos with their medals and chat with friends they made during the route.

The GCash Watch Pay booth became unexpectedly helpful for a lot of participants. It let everyone bind their GCash account to their HUAWEI smartwatch.

It made sense for runners who preferred to go cashless and travel light. Shopee was also present and reminded everyone how modern life blends with fitness.

The fun run wrapped up the physical celebration but HUAWEI kept the momentum alive through the Light Up Your Active Rings Online Challenge. It runs from November 8 to 30 inside the HUAWEI Health App.

Participants only need to burn 1500 kcal within the challenge period to unlock the exclusive Manila Medal, a new badge inside the app that feels like a digital pat on the back.

Sharing the medal on TikTok with the hashtags #LightUpYourActiveRingsPH and #EnjoyYourMoment also enters participants into a chance to win a HUAWEI Watch GT 6.

HUAWEI will announce the winner on December 15. It feels like an invitation to stay active long after the race banners are packed away.

That morning reminded me that fitness does not need to feel lonely. The run united beginners, athletes, and curious participants who wanted to experience something new.

It gave us a morning filled with movement and reminded us that wearable technology can help us stay accountable in a way that feels supportive.

I left the MOA Complex with tired legs and a full heart. My Active Rings glowed with pride and I promised myself that this would not be the last time I ran for the kind of joy that morning gave me.
