OPPO Reno11 series 5G to launch in Singapore
Featuring the Portrait Expert Engine
The OPPO Reno11 series 5G will debut globally in Singapore on January 27, days earlier than their scheduled release elsewhere.
The latest flagship devices will be available in the standard OPPO Reno11 5G and the OPPO Reno11 Pro 5G.
Both feature ultra-clear Portrait Camera systems wherein the devices’ telephoto and ultra-wide cameras work together.
The Reno11 5G has a 50MP main camera with a LYT600 sensor while its 32MP telephoto camera has a Sony IMX709 sensor.
Meanwhile, the Pro variant has a Sony IMX890 sensor for its 50MP main camera and a Sony IMX709 sensor likewise for its telephoto camera.
Portrait Expert Engine
At the heart of these devices is the Portrait Expert Engine that shall help deliver stunning portrait photos.
With this engine, photos taken undergo a four-part process first before the end result is produced. It starts with Facial Recognition and Subject/Scene Separation, as well as Skin Colour and Facial Feature Protection.
Afterwards, the final two stages are Upgraded Clarity, Stereoscopic Light and Shade Effects, and Background Optimization and Subject/Scene Fusion.
This advanced portrait algorithm gets combined with Portrait Mode to produce natural portraits even at 2x zoom.
Flagship-level performance, battery
Aside from the series’ capable cameras and software, the OPPO Reno11 Pro is powered by a Dimensity 8200 chipset for up to 80% better performance.
Both phones have 12GB of RAM and 12GB of extra memory via RAM Expansion, and up to 512GB of internal storage.
Inside them is a 4,600mAh battery that supports 80W SUPERVOOC Flash Charging for a 100% recharge in just 28 minutes.
ColorOS 14: Smart and smooth
The two new smartphone offerings will feature OPPO’s new ColorOS 14 based on Android 14.
This operating system has AI-powered smart features that improve efficiency, as well as self-developed technology for smoother performance.
It will retain the award-winning Always-On Display (AOD), enhanced in the form of GO Green Always-On.
Some AI features include Smart Touch which enables users to select content like text, images, and videos from the system and other apps. There’s also Smart Image Matting to easily cut out subjects from photos and videos.
File Dock organizes everything, and can even turn these elements into stickers or share it directly to other apps.
Price, availability
The OPPO Reno11 5G (12GB+256GB) is priced at SG$ 699. Meanwhile, the OPPO Reno11 Pro 5G (12GB+512GB) is available for SG$ 899.
The devices can be purchased starting January 27 via the OPPO online store, Shopee, Lazada, Qoo10, TikTok, iShopChangi, and various retailers islandwide.
Launch-exclusive offers include a free OPPO Enco Buds2, and cashback instant rebate. You also get 36 months battery protection plan, 24 months local warranty, and free three months of YouTube Premium.
By now, you’ve probably heard of Apple’s and Google’s irreverent advertising campaigns. For example, Apple used to claim that the iPhone is much more secure than an Android. Google, on the other hand, made fun of Apple for adopting new features way behind the curve. Now, a new challenger has entered the battlefield. Nothing has officially confirmed the Phone (4a) by essentially jumping on the hype for the next Apple event.
Recently, Apple released a very interesting invite for an unexpected event on March 4. It was interesting because of its unconventional timing and the recent rumor of a new entry-level MacBook. Naturally, there’s a lot of hype heading into March.
Apropos the brand’s usual marketing strategies, Nothing has released an invite of its own, confirming the launch of the launch of the Phone (4a) on March 5, a day after Apple’s event.
Of course, we’ve known about the Phone (4a) for a while now, thanks to Carl Pei’s own words last month. The more interesting bit is the invite itself.
Rather than bringing out its usual fashion-oriented aesthetics, Nothing just used Apple’s invite and literally spray-painted “Nothing” and “5 March” in neon pink letters.
It’s definitely an unconventional way to hype an event. Then again, everyone’s already excited for Apple, anyway. So it’s a case of “work smarter, not harder,” albeit straddling the fine line of ethical considerations.
This week, Apple announced a major event to start March off on the right foot. Because of the odd timing, there’s a lot riding on the upcoming event. However, Google wants to a share in the spotlight. Not to be outdone, the company has just announced when the next Google I/O is happening.
As is tradition, Google has released puzzles to tease the date of the annual conference. This time, the company teased the conference with a series of Gemini-powered minigames. They had a golf minigame and a nonogram puzzle, among others. Once you’ve solved the puzzle, you would have known the date of Google I/O ahead of the official announcement.
Well, now that a lot of people got the chance to try the games for themselves, Google officially let the cat out of the bag. The official invite is out, and you don’t need to solve a puzzle to see it. Sundar Pichai has confirmed that this year’s Google I/O is happening from May 19 to 20.
Most announcements, especially the most major keynote one, will be available to watch online for free. The company will likely share what’s coming to Android. Also, because the gamified announcements were heavily based on Gemini, we’ll likely get a healthy dose of Gemini announcements, too.
