This smart dash cam has AI at its core

You just talk to it

Gone are the days when you have to take your eyes off the road just to shoot a photo with your dashboard camera or manually press it to save an important clip. With the 70MAI Smart Dash Cam, all the functions are voice-enabled so you wouldn’t have to take your hands off the wheel.

This fully funded Indiegogo product comes from the Mi ecosystem and has its own AI algorithm running the show. For a more accurate voice recognition, the company says it trained the system with over 20,000 different voices to make sure the AI would recognize users with different accents and dialects.

Users basically just have to talk to the camera to give commands, but it’s unclear if there will be a key phrase to get its attention similar to “OK, Google.”

The dash cam is equipped with Sony’s IMX323 image sensor which should be able to produce clear images even in low-light conditions. The camera shoots Full HD videos with a 130-degree field of view.

In case of accidents, its 3-axis gravity sensor records the emergency collision and automatically saves it in a different storage to keep it safe. It can then be used for accident reports and insurance evidence.

Finally, it has a supplementary app where you can view what the camera sees in real time and capture images straight from your phone.

Once it makes its way to store shelves, the 70MAI Smart Dash Cam is expected to be priced around US$ 70, while Indiegogo supporters can have it for a cheaper US$ 39. It has raised over US$ 100,000 and is currently in production with deliveries pegged for March 2018.

Global Sources: Content Creator Essentials

We found the must-have portable lighting setup for creators

Published

Here at Global Sources we’ve been on the lookout for products that you might be interested in either buying or selling, but in the process we found gadgets, equipment, and accessories that we like. As traveling creators, we’re still in the process of figuring out how to have a more efficient and effective mobile studio that we can carry with us wherever.

Telesin’s egg-shaped charging cases are perfect for our Sony a7s batteries — they’re colourful and handy. They also double as memory card readers and holders. We also found portable LED lights from Number King that makes setting up fuss-free. It has a built-in battery but is slim and small enough to fit in a backpack’s laptop compartment.

With all the traveling we do, taking care of one’s skin is downgraded to the bottom of priorities. An easy solution is a portable humidifier from Remax Life — it’s as small as a pen, and just needs a bottle of water to work its magic.

Last but not the least: a solar-powered backpack that’s surprisingly designed well and is stylish! Having a lot of compartments and extra room is always a plus for creators for our tools and knicknacks.
