Next Xiaomi phone will reportedly have a 120x zoom camera

Smartphones cameras are absolutely brutish nowadays. Whether to capture a picturesque landscape, to record a fast-paced basketball game, or to gaze lovingly at all your pores, today’s smartphones can already replace our professional cameras in all but the most rigorous of photoshoots. Every year, the industry pushes the boundaries even further into unbelievable levels. What else can a smartphone camera accomplish?

According to Xiaomishka, a Xiaomi-focused outlet, Xiaomi is working on the next level of smartphone cameras. Codenamed the “CAS,” an upcoming device will reportedly sport a 108-megapixel camera, capable of up to 12x optical zoom and 120x digital zoom.

Of course, this isn’t the first time a smartphone crossed the 100x digital zoom barrier. Earlier this year, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra pushed a similar camera with up to 100x digital zoom. Based on our own tests, the periscope lens is a beast, capturing sights from kilometers away. We can only assume what Xiaomi’s upcoming project can do.

To deflate the hype a bit, a camera’s digital zoom does not accurately represent its actual capabilities. At maximum digital zoom, photos are usually blurry messes. If you want crisper photos, maximize optical zoom. Though the upcoming Xiaomi device’s 12x optical zoom pales in comparison to the digital zoom, it is still one of the more powerful devices to come out.

Inside, the smartphone will reportedly carry a Snapdragon 775G chipset. It is also rumored to follow the Mi CC9 series, which also touted a revolutionary smartphone camera setup last year. The Xiaomi “CAS” will likely debut sometime in July.

Nissan has been heavily marketing their EV efforts. The company is taking things to the next phase with the introduction of the Nissan Ariya. It’s their first all-electric Crossover SUV complete with smart functionalities.

The Nissan Ariya represents the company’s design transformation which also includes the unveiling of a new logo. It also takes the powerful performance and capabilities of zero-emission vehicles to a new level.

Its all-electric drivetrain combines excellent power delivery, charging capabilities and range. There are different configurations to choose from. These include two-wheel-drive and e-4ORCE all-wheel-drive versions, as well as two different battery sizes.

The e-4ORCE all-wheel control system balances performance with all-weather capability. The system’s twin electric motors provide a balanced, predictable ride, while delivering sports car-level power.

Tech-ladden smart car

The Nissan Ariya is equipped with tech to help you If you’re pretty challenged behind the wheel . It has the ProPILOT 2.0 which is an advanced driver assistance system. It comes with ProPILOT Remote Park and e-Pedal features.

The Ariya also has Nissan’s Safety Shield system which includes Intelligent Around View Monitor, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Emergency Braking and Rear Automatic Emergency Braking technology.

The Ariya is accompanied by Amazon’s Alexa. Couple that with its all-new human-machine interface, it lets customers use natural speech to adjust car settings. Worried about updates? The car’s firmware can all be updated over-the-air (OTA) so keeping it up-to-date should be a breeze.

Subtle, futuristic interior

The exterior design isn’t the only thing that was given a fresh look. The Nissan Ariya has an interior who’s design language follows that of “Timeless Japanese Futurism.”

Nissan’s designers took advantage of the car’s new EV platform. It allows for a flat floor and its compact climate control components give the Ariya the most spacious cabin in its class.

The lounge-like interior features Zero Gravity seat and provides a welcoming and comfortable environment for driver and passengers alike.

New car, new logo

Debuting on the Nissan Ariya is Nissan’s new logo. The company says it symbolizes the company’s dedication to keep innovating for new generations of customers.

The company name remains at the center of the logo. This should communicate an instantly recognizable brand that evokes past milestones and memories while also conveying evolution.

Moving forward, it will appear in coming Nissan models as they’re introduced or refreshed.

OPPO launches 125W flash charge, new VOOC, flash charge lineup

OPPO and VOOC charging has been synonymous since as far back as the brand first started. This year, the company’s innovation in charging is launching in different forms. These are the 125W flash charge, 65W AirVOOC wireless flash charge, 50W mini SuperVOOC charger, and 110W mini flash charger.

OPPO believes the next generation of devices will be more demanding and it needs a charging technology to go along with it. The company says their VOOC charging technology is built with an advanced encryption algorithm and strict temperature control regulators for safe and efficient use.

OPPO 125W flash charge

Headlining the new lineup is the 125W flash charge. OPPO says it can charge a 4000mAh battery up to 41% in 5 minutes and fully charge it in 20 minutes at the fastest rate. It’s the most advanced flash charge tech at the moment.

It’s also compatible with previous SuperVOOC and VOOC flash charge protocols and supports mainstream protocols including 65W PD and 125W PPS.

If you’re worried about possible overheating, it naturally has been taken into account. It has 10 additional temperature sensors which monitor the charging status to ensure maximum safety during charging.

It also uses uses fuse overvoltage protection measures, Type-C to Type-C wire as well as 128-bit high-strength encryption algorithm to enhance safety.

OPPO 65W AirVOOC

Wireless charging also gets a massive speed boost. If you’re foreign to the experience of wireless charging, just know that it’s absolutely convenient placing your phone on a panel for it to automatically charge.

Typically, wireless charging is slower than most wired charging. Although we’ve seen the likes 30W and 40W wireless fast chargers, OPPO takes it to another level with the 65W AirVOOC. It promises to fully charge a 4000mAh battery in 30 minutes at the fastest rate.

It also has five-fold safety protection measures in addition to a foreign object detection function. It’s also compatible with the Qi standard for a cable-free and super-fast charging experience.

OPPO also showcased a conceptual wireless charger for the 65W AirVOOC wireless flash charge. Not only is it an advanced tech, it’s also a beautiful piece to add to your home.

The charger features a beautifully-sculpted glass which is made of moldless rapid prototyping technology. It is the first application of this type of technology in the consumer electronics market.

OPPO 50W mini SuperVOOC charger

The first of two in OPPO’s mini charger series is the 50W mini SuperVOOC charger. OPPO says it was developed to be the size of a business card holder, or as the photo below suggests — the size of a cookie.

It was made to fit into tiny spaces while still providing the user a fast-charging tool. This includes your pants 😏, shirt pockets, and coat pockets.

The 50W mini SuperVOOC charger is compatible with VOOC protocols, supports mainstream protocols like 27W PD and 50W PPS, and can charge a variety of devices including mobile phones and laptops. Yes. Laptops.

OPPO 110W mini flash charger
