Remember the LG G5, the sort-of modular Android flagship launched at the Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona? The one that comes with a pair of back cameras and separately sold accessories, including a VR goggle, a 360-degree camera, and a BB-8 clone? Right. Well, it’ll be available for preorder in the Philippines next week, a good ten days before its local debut.
LG just announced that preorders for the G5 will open on April 18th in LG stores, partner retailers, and at Lazada’s Philippine website, though early adopters will have to wait until May 3, or longer, to get it. Pricing is set at P34,990.
The off-contract price is virtually the same as the already available Samsung Galaxy S7’s, which puts the former in a difficult matchup against arguably Samsung’s best smartphone effort to date.
On the plus side, LG is throwing in a cover case and an LG Cam Plus camera grip that effectively transforms the phone into a point-and-shoot camera, complete with a zoom dial and a shutter-release button.
