Apple AirPower might finally launch soon
First announced in 2017
Back in 2017, Apple finally joined the wireless charging bandwagon, and even adopted the Qi standard which brands such as Samsung and LG have been utilizing for a while. This marked the first time that you could charge an iPhone and Galaxy phone with the same accessory.
Apple really seemed all in with this development, going as far as making its recent Apple Watch and AirPods wirelessly charge through Qi, as well. With its mobile devices using the same standard, it was time to reveal an accessory that could fill up all products at once, and that was the AirPower.
It was a charging pad introduced in September 2017, and it allowed one to simultaneously charge a compatible iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods. Sadly, since then, Apple has been quiet about its rollout, and it even disappeared from marketing materials and any mention during succeeding launch events.
Now, we have a couple of tweets to get our hopes up. According to a “credible source,” Luxshare Precision — which also manufacturers other Apple accessories — already has the AirPower in production.
Breaking: AirPower is finally coming. We just learned from credible source in supply chain that the manufacture Luxshare Precision has already started producing Apple AirPower wireless charging pad. Luxshare Precision is also the maker of Apple AirPods and USB-C cables. pic.twitter.com/UqgWIAh3sx

Apple AirPower: Another source claims Pegatron is set to start mass produce AirPower at Jan 21. Pegatron is also an Apple OEM in Asia. The company employee says AirPower has total three layers of coils in 8-7-7 configuration from bottom to top. pic.twitter.com/xsboO47PGR

A follow-up source says that mass production could begin on January 21, meaning the launch date might be coming sooner than expected. Apple didn’t mention any pricing during the first reveal, so that’s another mystery that needs solving.
Apple hasn’t reacted to any of these claims — and we doubt they ever will — but this is the sort of good news we needed after over a year of silence.
