Does this confirm the ASUS ROG Phone coming to the US?

Finally leaving Taiwan

Published

on

One of the biggest mysteries during the ROG Phone launch — among many — was when and where the ASUS gaming phone was going to be rolled out.

Outside of the obvious homeland of Taiwan and “coming soon,” there wasn’t much else divulged about the availability, or even the price for that matter, but we may have found one major clue.

The US website of ASUS put up a dedicated page for the ROG Phone. While it doesn’t indicate any of the details we want to know, it’s a strong indicator that the gaming handset is in fact on its way to the other side of the world.

ASUS executives themselves promised that the device will become commercially available some time during the second half of 2018, and with that about to begin in a little over a week, more details may soon be known.

For now, the ROG Phone is still the most powerful handset ASUS has released to date, and continues to be the most attractive gaming smartphone this year.

Lenovo’s Legion is coming back to the gaming phone segment

The new Legion Y70 is launching in China next month.

Lenovo Legion Pro 5i

Last year, the gaming phone segment received a huge blow when ASUS pulled the plug on the ROG Phone. Another brand is ready to take its place, though. Lenovo has been teasing the return of the Legion Phone. Lenovo’s gaming-centric brand is releasing the refreshed Legion Y70 in May.

Lenovo picks up where it last left off. Back in 2022, the brand launched the original Y70 in different circumstances. Most especially, it launched in a market with heavy competition from the ROG Phone. Now that the latter has called it quits, Lenovo is ready to step in.

And yes, according to a leaked photo, it does look like a Motorola phone, especially with the rear camera design. After all, Lenovo does own Motorola, so the similarities make sense.

In terms of hardware, it’s unknown which piece of hardware will come to the new phone. Since it’s a gaming phone, you can expect some beefy specs for all your gaming needs. Besides that, it’s confirmed that the device will also feature a heavy heaping of AI to help the performance along.

Now, in a Weibo post, Lenovo has confirmed that the new Legion Y70 is coming in May. That said, it will be a China-exclusive release for now. The brand ahs not confirmed whether the phone will arrive in international markets after the initial launch.

Godzilla Minus Zero trailer teases the kaiju’s arrival in New York

The movie premieres in November.

Published

Godzilla Minus One was one of my favorite movies in 2023. Only the second live-action Godzilla in the ongoing Reiwa era, Minus One reintroduced the Japanese version of the legendary kaiju to contrast the blockbuster approach of the American Legendary Pictures franchise. Now, the award-winning movie is getting a sequel: Godzilla Minus Zero.

Set as a direct sequel to the 2023 film, Godzilla Minus Zero takes place in 1949, a few years after the events of the past movie. As the end of the last film portends, the eponymous monster survives the catastrophic attack against it. But as to how it survived and what it’s targeting next, we’ll just have to wait and see.

In a newly released teaser trailer, Minus Zero will once again feature the return of the previous film’s Koichi and Noriko. The latter of which is still sporting the scars of surviving Godzilla’s attack on Ginza. Koichi, however, finds himself back in the cockpit of a fighter plane to unknown purposes.

That’s not all. Godzilla is apparently ditching the Pacific Ocean for the Atlantic. In a brief scene that will surely become iconic as time goes by, the kaiju traipses gingerly but menacingly past the Statue of Liberty.

Thankfully, it’s not a long wait before we find out what the world’s favorite kaiju is up to this time. Godzilla Minus Zero will premiere in Japanese cinemas on November 3 and American cinemas on November 6.

Bloodborne is getting an R-rated animated film adaptation

And it’s going to be produced by Sony and Jacksepticeye.

FromSoftware fans are eating well these days. Though gamers are still anticipating the arrival of The Duskbloods on the Switch 2, the studio’s other franchises are getting well-deserved nods for adaptations: Sekiro, Elden Ring, and now, Bloodborne.

Sekiro has already been slated for an anime adaptation for a while now. Meanwhile, Alex Garland recently confirmed that he is adapting Elden Ring for A24. Today, Sony Pictures has confirmed that the studio is working on an R-rated animated film based on Bloodborne.

Via Variety, Sony Pictures president Sanford Panitch says that the upcoming adaptation will keep the game’s essence of horror and gore. With a name like “Bloodborne,” you can’t have an adaptation without a heaping of blood.

Besides Sony, the animated project has another big name attached to its production: YouTuber Jacksepticeye. Throughout his career, the creator has been vocal about considering Bloodborne as his favorite game of all time. He even has a tattoo of the Hunter’s Mark on his forearm. For this project, Jack will be a co-producer.

Though the creator’s skill in filmmaking is still a relative unknown, Jack’s love for the game should give the project a gamer’s voice. If anything, Markiplier’s recent Iron Lung adaptation offers optimism that YouTubers can also create decent films.
