OPPO Watch Free levels up sleep monitoring
Featuring Osleep
OPPO announced their latest OPPO Watch Free — a brand-new watch with all-scenario sleep monitoring.
The watch aims to be the entry-level smartwatch of choice for all, as it comes with Osleep for better sleep monitoring, as well as professional sport modes and other health functions.
Sleep well with OSleep
Osleep comes with professional, comprehensive, and personalized sleep monitoring and analysis throughout the sleep cycle.
This includes an exclusive snoring risk assessment monitored by sensors and advanced algorithms to detect sleep problems and come up with accurate suggestions.
OPPO’s latest smart watch uses a continuous second-level SpO2 monitoring through an optical SpO2 sensor, as well as an optical heart rate sensor to record snores, while other indicators like blood oxygen level is also tallied.
The OPPO Watch Free also analyzes users’ sleep latency, duration, and phases using its advanced features like deep and light sleep analysis and rapid eye movement (REM) monitoring to aid in better sleep.
OPPO and Tsinghua University partnered in establishing the Joint Research Center for Future Terminal Technology, conducting a number of joint research projects in the field of sleep to further explore sleep tracking technology.
Over 100 sport modes, pro health monitoring
When it comes to staying fit, the OPPO Watch Free has a built-in 6-axis motion sensor along with its optical heart rate sensor that supports over 100 sport modes.
The sensors automatically identify and record the sport modes using algorithms, making it easier for users to exercise and stay fit.
All activities may be checked through Daily Activity, which also features built-in professional running courses to help in one’s fitness goals.
Additionally, the OPPO Watch Free supports 24-hour heart rate monitoring, which records users’ heart rate around the clock.
A warning vibrate will automatically prompt users when heart rate becomes too high or if there are irregular heartbeats.
Even just simple stand-up reminders and 5-minute stand-up relaxation videos come with the product, which are best suited for office workers to be able to sneak in being fit and relaxed.
Multiple convenience features
OPPO Watch Free can ideally be used as an extension of users’ phones, as it has a range of convenience features such as Message Notifications, Incoming Call Notifications, Call Rejection, Find My Phone, and Music Playback Control.
OPPO Watch Free also has a long battery life of up to 14 days. A quick 5-minute charge is already good for a day’s worth of usage.
Lightweight, stylish design
The likewise fashionable OPPO Watch Free weighs only 33 grams and comes with a 1.64-inch AMOLED HD display.
The watch also features a smooth leather-like strap which offers a breathable fit that stays comfortable and offers over 40 stylish watch faces and AI Outfit watch Face 2.0.
This allows users to create personalised watch faces that match the style of their outfit on any given day.
Pricing and availability
The OPPO Watch Free will be available in two colors — Vanilla and Black — from January 15, 2022 at a retail price of SG$ 129 at OPPO Concept Stores, OPPO’s Shopee and Lazada flagship stores, and authorized sellers.
From January 15 until March 4, 2022, the OPPO Watch Free can also be purchased at a discounted price of SG$ 99 alongside the OPPO Reno7 Pro, only at OPPO Concept Stores, OPPO’s Shopee and Lazada Flagship Stores.

Bloodborne is getting an R-rated animated film adaptation
And it’s going to be produced by Sony and Jacksepticeye.
FromSoftware fans are eating well these days. Though gamers are still anticipating the arrival of The Duskbloods on the Switch 2, the studio’s other franchises are getting well-deserved nods for adaptations: Sekiro, Elden Ring, and now, Bloodborne.
Sekiro has already been slated for an anime adaptation for a while now. Meanwhile, Alex Garland recently confirmed that he is adapting Elden Ring for A24. Today, Sony Pictures has confirmed that the studio is working on an R-rated animated film based on Bloodborne.
Via Variety, Sony Pictures president Sanford Panitch says that the upcoming adaptation will keep the game’s essence of horror and gore. With a name like “Bloodborne,” you can’t have an adaptation without a heaping of blood.
Besides Sony, the animated project has another big name attached to its production: YouTuber Jacksepticeye. Throughout his career, the creator has been vocal about considering Bloodborne as his favorite game of all time. He even has a tattoo of the Hunter’s Mark on his forearm. For this project, Jack will be a co-producer.
Though the creator’s skill in filmmaking is still a relative unknown, Jack’s love for the game should give the project a gamer’s voice. If anything, Markiplier’s recent Iron Lung adaptation offers optimism that YouTubers can also create decent films.

Xbox CEO admits Game Pass is too expensive right now
Her statement was clear in a leaked memo.
Formerly a cheap and convenient way to enjoy content, today’s subscription services are anything but affordable. Signing up for so many services can quickly pile up and rob you of a significant chunk of your monthly salary. Today, recently instated Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has surprisingly agreed with the sentiment and called out the Game Pass for being “too expensive for players.”
While today’s subscriptions still conveniently collate a swath of content under one roof, their service providers continuously up their prices for no reason or, worse, for the promise of AI features no one asked for. The Game Pass is no different after a series of price hikes have placed the service beyond what budget-conscious players might call justifiable.
As of late, Sharma has been adamant about the resurgence of Xbox as a worthy competitor to the PlayStation and the Switch. She even teased the platform’s next generation as a device that can also play PC games.
Today, in a leaked memo (via The Verge), Sharma has reportedly admitted to the ongoing pitfalls of the Game Pass system.
“Short term, Game Pass has become too expensive for players, so we need a better value equation. Long term, we will evolve Game Pass into a more flexible system which will take time to test and learn around,” she said.
A simple price cut still seems like a lot to hope for. Xbox might also introduce a new tier that might reduce the price at the expense of some features. At the very least, Xbox’s new head recognizes the problem of an overly expensive subscription.
