LG showcases CLOiD home robot at CES 2026

Meant to automate everyday house chores

LG Electronics has showcased its AI-enabled home robot, the LG CLOiD, at CES 2026. It was the first time the robot was demonstrated publicly.

The system represents LG’s latest development in AI-based home robotics and smart home platforms, building on the company’s self-driving AI Home Hub LG Q9 and ThinQ ecosystem.

The new offering embodies the company’s zero labor home vision, introducing physical AI to help individual manage time-consuming daily housework.

As such, it is mainly intended to aid users and reduce the time and physical effort required for everyday chores.

Household automation in real-world setting

During its demonstration, the LG CLOiD was shown operating in diverse home environments.

In one scenario, the robot retrieved milk from a refrigerator and placed a croissant into an oven to prepare breakfast.

As household occupants leave, the robot also initiates laundry cycles, then folds and stacks garments after drying.

Such tasks display the robot’s ability to understand user’s lifestyle and precise appliance control.

Hardware designed for operation in living spaces

The LG CLOiD consists of a head unit, torso with two articulated arms, and a wheeled base equipped with autonomous navigation.

The torso part can tilt to adjust its height, enabling the robot to pick up objects from knee level and above.

Each arm, meanwhile, has seven degrees of freedom, matching the mobility of a human arm. The shoulder, elbow, and wrist allow forward, backward, rotational and lateral motion.

Moreover, each hand includes five independently actuated fingers for fine manipulation. The configuration allows the home robot to handle a wide range of objects and operate in several areas.

In addition, the wheeled base uses autonomous driving technology derived from LG’s experience with robot vacuums and the LG Q9.

The form factor considers safety, stability, and cost-effectiveness. A low center of gravity also reduces the risk of tipping should there be contact with a pet or child.

LG CLOiD as a mobile AI home hub

Furthermore, the LG CLOiD’s head functions as a mobile AI home hub. It houses a chipset, display, speaker, cameras, and various sensors, plus voice-based generative AI.

At the core of the robot is LG’s physical AI technology, which combines Vision Language Model and Vision Language Action. These models trained for tens of thousands of hours with household task data.

Collectively, the elements allow the robot to communicate with humans through spoken language and even facial expressions.

Learning the environment and user lifestyle patterns enable the robot to tailor-fit its capabilities. Connected home appliances can also be controlled through integration with LG’s smart home ecosystem, including the ThinQ and ThinQ ON.

Seamless connectivity allows LG CLOiD to orchestrate a wider range of services across LG’s various appliances.
