realme GT 8 Pro has Ricoh GR cameras plus swappable camera shapes
Even the vanilla realme GT 8 wasn’t left behind
TechTober is far from being over.
Aside from vivo, OPPO, iQOO, and HONOR announcing their all-new high-end handsets, realme also steps into the arena and reveals the GT 8 series — their latest and greatest flagships for 2025.
Swap for some pop!
The realme GT 8 Pro dares to stand out with its brand new Mechanical Assembly Design.
This new design language provides swappable camera shapes for the GT 8 Pro.
Aside from the usual square and round cutouts, that rare transparent cover gives a nice Nothing-like touch of aesthetics.
For those who truly dare, you can keep its bare form — dubbed as “Robert” which mimics a robot-like look.
And with realme’s Design Studio, the possibilities are limitless.
And while we’re already at the design talk, its back can either be made of frosted glass or paper-like recycled leather that’s both resistant to wear and corrosion.
It’s also said to be lighter and thinner than conventional skins. Moreover, it’s also the industry-first to include Photon Nano-Sculpting Process that enables engraving process that’s both accurate and environment-friendly.
Frame is then made from matte-frosted metal.
GT meets GR
Camera swap-outs are for one. Revolutionary camera system is for another.
With almost every Chinese brand having their camera collab, realme says it’s better late than never as they finally join the game of camera collabs by partnering with Ricoh.
This also marks the first imaging partnership between a Chinese phone brand and a Japanese imaging company.
First and foremost, it brings Ricoh GR’s anti-glare properties.
To be precise, it’s a 7P high lens with ultra-low anti-coating alongside an Ultrasound lens glass with Double layer AR coating.
There are more nerdy stuff such as Deep Absorbent Blue Glass and IR Spin Filter.
The lens prowess is then partnered by Ricoh GR’s Intuitive Algorithm Engine.
Last but definitely not the least, Ricoh GR’s five classic film tones are here: Standard, Positive Film, Negative Film, Monotone, and Hi-Contrast B&W.
You can even play with Ricoh GR Blue and Green Shadows for that added personal feel onto your snaps.
For that ultimate Ricoh feel, swiping downwards the regular camera shutter brings you Ricoh GR mode with various options such as Fast Shot, Classic F 28/40mm, and even the Immersion Viewfinder.
All beneath that Ricoh goodness lies the powerful camera hardware.
On top of the standard 50MP f/1.8 main module, there’s also another 50MP f/2.0 ultra-wide lens.
But, the star of the show has got to be its 200MP f/2.6 3x periscope shooter — which also shares a large 1/1.56-inch image sensor as its wide (main) camera.
It’s also enabled by both OIS and EIS for that shake-free close-ups.
The realme GT 8 Pro also gives possible users utmost freedom between 8K/30fps video recording or 4K/120fps — either in flat 10-bit Log profile or in Dolby Vision format.
The Latest Grand Tourer
The realme GT 8 Pro is the brand’s grandest flagship smartphone so far.
It’s the fourth smartphone in the list to run Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 3nm SoC headlined by the Xiaomi 17 series then followed by the HONOR Magic8 series and iQOO 15 respectively.
More flagship-grade specs are found within.
You can choose between 12 or 16GB of LPDDR5X memory with plethora of storage options between 256GB / 512GB / 1TB in a newer UFS 4.1 protocol.
There’s even a 7000mm2 Vapor Cooling (VC) chamber for in-demand gaming.
Up front, there’s a large 6.79-inch 144Hz 2K AMOLED display based on BOE Q10+ panel.
It’s capable of displaying 10-bit color depth, support of up to 1.07 Billion Colors, and up to 4000 nits of outdoor brightness (and a whopping 7000 nits local peak).
It also goes as low as 1 nit to protect your eyes when using it at dimly-lit surroundings.
Pixel density is 508ppi (Pixels per inch) with streamlined R-corners for that uniformed rounded rectangle look.
Beneath the display is (thankfully) an ultrasonic under-display fingerprint sensor.
Thanks to the continuous push of Si/C tech, battery capacity is pretty massive at 7000mAh which is promised to last for 2.3 days and rated to last for five long years. It can also withstand cold conditions of -15ºC.
It’s joined by a super fast 120W charging (that’s also UFCS integrated) then paired by 50W wireless charging.
For third-party charging adapters, they can still be used and maximized with 55W USB-C PPS and 14.4W QC.
To finish it off, it boasts triple IP69 + IP68 + IP66 water and dust resistance ratings.
Lastly, it runs the latest realme UI 7.0 based on Android 16 with revamped looks and smarter AI tools in mind.
Base GT 8 ain’t left behind
As expected, the vanilla variant is as capable as its Pro sibling.
Aside from the absence of that swappable camera cutout mechanism, almost 90 percent of their specs are identical.
Still, there are notable differences. The base GT 8 has last year’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, “slower” 100W fast charging without USB-C PPS support, even the absence of wireless charging.
Camera systems are also different: 50MP 3.5x periscope shooter, a lot smaller 1/4.0-inch 8MP UWA, and a 16MP front-facing camera (versus 200MP 3x periscope, 1/2.88-inch 50MP UWA, and 32MP selfie on the Pro).
Finally, not a stark gap but GT 8 has UFS 4.0 internal storage protocol (over UFS 4.1).

The OPPO Find X9 Ultra is Galaxy S26 Ultra’s biggest enemy
The most extreme camera system in a smartphone so far
Three weeks after the launch of the vivo X300 Ultra, there’s another “Ultra” flagship gleaming on the horizon.
The much-awaited (and much teased) OPPO Find X9 Ultra has finally reached the Eastern shores.
X-treme Cameras
On paper, the OPPO Find X9 Ultra packs the most extreme camera system in a smartphone so far.
First, it has a 200MP f/1.5 main camera based on the newer (and ginormous) Sony LYT-901 1/1.18-inch sensor. This also happens to be the same camera sensor used by the vivo X300 Ultra — just with a tighter 35mm focal length and slightly narrower f/1.85 lens opening.
Second, its 50MP f/2.0 ultra-wide lens with Sony’s 1/1.95-inch LYT-600 sensor.
But, what makes this camera system more extreme? It’s the inclusion of dual periscope telephoto lenses with larger sensors compared to its closest rival, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Find X9 Ultra’s biggest accomplishment can be seen with its 200MP 3x periscope telephoto. This is based from OmniVision’s OV52A sensor at 1/1.28 inches.
The next periscope module is a 50MP Samsung ISOCELL JNL 1/2.75-inch sensor. This second zoom shooter can capture 10x optically-zoomed shots, 20x “optical quality” snaps, all the way to 120x.
A dedicated camera button stays — now in the signature Hasselblad orange shade.
All in all, these are ultimate upgrades to the quad 50MP camera setup of last year’s OPPO Find X8 Ultra.
For video shooting, the OPPO Find X9 Ultra is capable of shooting up to 4K/120fps or 8K in 30fps. LOG Mode is also supported via OPPO’s O-Log2 with support for Custom 3D LUTs.
X-citing Partnership
The Find X9 Ultra’s massive camera module are all co-produced with Hasselblad — further solidifying the partnership between the Swedish camera brand and the Chinese phone maker.
To make things even more X-citing, the OPPO Find X9 Ultra has a special edition Hasselblad Earth Explorer Kit.
This optional camera kit consists of a massive 300mm LUMO telephoto kit lens, camera lens ring module, set of filters, adapters, and hood, pouch to house them all in, an embroidered Hasselblad lanyard.
Heck! Even a custom camera grip case reminiscent of Hasselblad’s very own X2D 100C Earth Explorer camera.
Speaking of, the OPPO Find X9 Ultra comes in the Tundra Umber colorway of the same earth-like hues and signature Hasselblad orange detailing.
If that isn’t your cup of tea, there are two more color options: Polar Glacier (white) and Canyon Orange. Albeit, the special grip case is only available in one color.
If the Hasselblad Kit already feels like an overkill, check out the TILTA KHRONOS Kit suited for videographers and aspiring filmmakers alike.
It’s a different set-up with follow-focus power handle, cooling back clip, ND filter adapter ring, side handle, and expansion dock.
X-quisite Flagship
Just like any 2026 flagship, the Find X9 Ultra runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC based on the 3nm process.
LPDDR5X memory choices are either between 12- or 16GB while its UFS 4.1 internal storage now has a bigger 1TB option (the X8 Ultra has a 512GB limitation).
Its 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED display has been improved too. Now, it has an even smoother 144Hz refresh rate with brightness as low as 1 nit.
Compared to the 6100mAh battery of its predecessor, the Find X9 Ultra has a boosted 7050mAh Si/C battery. It’s currently the largest capacity in any Ultra flagship slab so far.
However, wired and wireless charging speeds remain at 100W and 50W respectively.
X-plit Strategy
The Find X9 Ultra isn’t the only phone being launched.
OPPO aims for a split strategy this time by separately unveiling the Find X9s Pro and Find X9s for the Chinese and global markets respectively. JSYK, these are two different phone models.
OPPO adds an iPhone-like “Camera Plateau” cutout to Find X9 Pro’s camera system — highlighting various earth-like textures. That system includes dual 200MP Hasselblad cameras (main and telephoto). On the other hand, the ultra-wide camera is capped at 50MP.
Meanwhile, the Find X9s borrows the same square cutout of last year’s Find X9 series with a consistent triple 50MP camera system.
Also, the Find X9s Pro has its own Special Camera Kit. The Find X9s doesn’t have one.
Moreover, the Find X9s Pro rocks MediaTek’s flagship-level Dimensity 9500. While the Find X9s has the slightly-underpowered Dimensity 9500s chipset.
While both phones support LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 ROM protocols, configurations are different. The Find X9s Pro has choices between 12 or 16GB of memory and up to 1TB of storage. However, the Find X9s only has a lone 12GB memory with limited storage options between 256 or 512GB of storage.
Surprisingly, the Find X9s Pro has the smaller 6.32-inch AMOLED display whereas the X9s boasts a bigger screen at 6.59 inches. These are both a departure from the 6.78-inch Find X9 Pro and 6.59-inch Find X9.
The only thing these models both share are the 7025mAh Si/C battery and 80W wired SUPERVOOC speeds. Unfortunately, only the X9s Pro supports 50W AIRVOOC wireless charging that the base X9s lacks.
Ultimately, the Find X9 Ultra and X9s series all possess triple IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for utmost durability.

Gaming’s worst kept secret is finally out. After months of rumors and speculations, Ubisoft will officially reveal its upcoming Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake on April 23.
In March, the company first confirmed the game’s existence through the first concept art for the title. The upcoming remake will be officially called Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, which definitely states that it’s going to be a remake, rather than just a remaster.
Today, Ubisoft has announced that the worldwide reveal will happen on April 23. The showcase should clear the air as to how the remake will handle the franchise’s most successful outing to date.
When it first came out, Black Flag rightfully claimed itself as the quintessential pirate life simulator in the modern era. Rather than a straightforward stealth and assassination game, the title featured Edward Kenway, a vagabond pirate turned reluctant assassin. It was a worthy next step coming from the Desmond Miles trilogy, which concluded with Assassin’s Creed III.
Now, the studio isn’t done with the title. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag will ideally see the pirate game built again from the ground up. However, it’s still a bit unclear how much of the game will actually be rebuilt. Thankfully, the wait isn’t long at all.
For now, the franchise is still thriving with its latest new outing, Assassin’s Creed Shadows. It is also gearing up for the next mainline entry, currently called Codename Hexe.
