OPPO unveils new Zoom tech, RGBW sensor, and Under-screen camera
OPPO revs up its imaging technology
OPPO held the 2021 OPPO Future Imaging Technology Launch Event today. The company unveiled its smartphone imaging technology focusing on its upgrades to sensors, modules, and algorithms.
Featured at their event:
- OPPO’s RGBW sensor
- 85-200mm Continuous Optical Zoom
- Five-axis OIS technology
- Under-screen camera with proprietary AI algorithms
OPPO unveiled their first-ever under-screen camera technology back in 2019 at the MWC event in Shanghai.
RGBW sensor
OPPO’s RGBW sensor upgraded with new processing technology, with increased performance, gives future devices more power to process images. With
The new sensor has been upgraded to 60 percent, meaning more light can be captured. Comparing it to their previous sensors, it’s also improved up to 35 percent reduction in noise for better images in low-light situations. Additionally, it also makes portraits in both photos and videos with enhancements. OPPO will release the sensors by Q4 2021.
OPPO’s optical zoom
The module is an 85-200mm Continuous Optical Zoom, and it has been accompanied by the following:
- Adopted G+P lens technology is infused by aspheric glass lenses, give it a possibility to improve the optical effects and improve contrast as it minimizes stray light.
- With its discovery in 1995, OPPO adds the TMR or better knows as the Tunnel Magneto-Resistance sensor. OPPO calls it the tunnel magnetoresistance sensor, just so you know. It allows the sensors to move with better stability.
- The dynamic tilt helps out in moving the lens system, same as tilting your head. For phones, you have to carefully engineer the dynamic tilt, which will determine the stabilization of your shots and videos. For OPPO, they engineered the dynamic tilt to better suit their Continuous Optical Zoom.
Also new from OPPO, it’s the Five-axis OIS! From small to relatively large movements, this OIS will be helping out to produce steady and ready-to-capture photos. Additionally, OPPO will release the five-axis OIS in Q1 2022.
Under-screen camera
OPPO also presented its under-screen camera technology. With their new solution for their cameras, they also ensure a 400-PPI display. Having the best of both worlds. it has been a dream for us, smartphone enthusiasts, to have this technology improved at least every year. Using transparent wiring and a design makeover, their new under-screen camera will surely be a wonder to look at.
OPPO has also developed an AI algorithm. With the improvements of diffraction reduction, we should expect better image quality for their newer smartphones.
