Mujjo creates a new leather case made of corn

Especially made for the new iPhone 16 Pro series

Published

Apple’s signature leather case lineup is already dead — and so as their ill-famed FineWoven line released just a year ago.

But still fancying a good ol’ leather case for your newest iPhone 16? Mujjo and their leather phone molds are here to stay.

The Better Leather

With the leather and FineWoven options already out of Apple’s case portfolio, this is the best time to invest in Mujjo’s OG cases. They are always known for their quality leather cases with subdued elegance.

There are two cases in this category.

First is the no-frills Full Leather Case (US$ 59). The other one is none other than the Full Leather Wallet Case (US$ 64) with a dedicated wallet slot behind it. It holds up to three cards, BTW.

Both of these cases have vegetable-tanned leather that ages beautifully and acquires a unique patina over time. It also has water-free leather tanning thanks to DriTan. Plastic buttons, polycarbonate inner shell, as well as its microfibre lining are all recycled as well.

Speaking of, the Japanese-made microfibre lining has a satin-like finish which ensures that the iPhone is scratch-free every time you put it on. And with protection already being mentioned, it also has a 1mm raised leather bezel to protect it from rough surfaces plus a machined-metal camera bump at its back.

These cases are available in the classic Monaco Blue, Black, and Tan choices. There are also two new colors exclusive for the Full Leather Case variant: Livid Green and Green Smoke.

Additionally, there are also two accessories: the MagSafe Wallet (US$ 44) as well as the newer MagSafe Wallet Stand (US$ 54).

Just like their case counterparts, they also feature the same type of leather and microfibre lining.

But comparing these two, the newer accessory can fit a lot more cards in its three compartments act and can be used as a phone stand as well.

The Wallet Stand is only available in one color while the MagSafe Wallet has eight including the three standard plus two new colors introduced in the leather case line.

Eco-Friendliest Of ‘Em All

Mujjo has dared to challenge Apple’s “sustainability” initiative by unveiling their most eco-friendly case yet: the MaizCase (US$ 59).

From the root word itself, this product has a bio-leather material based from corn. This further proves that we never needed FineWoven at all when leather substitutes can be made from discarded corn and cereals mixed with recycled polyester.

The MaizCase is basically the eco-friendlier version of their Full Leather Case — metal buttons, camera bump, microfibre lining, and inner shell included. But unlike that case, this is currently available in one color called Steel Blue.

Form + Function = Protection

Last but definitely not the least is also a newcomer: The Shield Case (US$ 59).

The quality vegetable-tanned leather from their Full Leather Case still remain as well as the DriTan water-free leather tanning and Japanese microfibre lining.

But if you’re mostly clumsy when you use your phone out and about, the Shield Case has an added protection rated to withstand 5 meters / 15 feet of drops and an unrivaled shock absorption. The rear camera bump is protruding as well for full-on protection.

Their Glass Screen Protector (US$ 24 / EUR 29 / GBP 24) will also come to the newest iPhone series. It features 9H scratch-resistant hardness with Electroplating AF to resist water, oil, and even fingerprints.

The screen protector is also just 0.33mm thin and are made from recycled materials. Buying one assures you two sets of screen protector, cleaning kit, and easy applicator tray.

P.S: Most of the cases and accessories are all made for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max. Only the Full Leather Case is available for all models including the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus.

Going ‘back to school’ as an adult with the HP Smart Tank 580

Cost-efficient, high-performance printer for tangible memories

Make memories, keep them

I’ll be completely honest: I can’t recall the last time I held art materials for a creative workshop. Living in a digital world today, it’s been quite a while for sure.

I do write greeting cards for my partner every month — a habit I’ve had from way back and a way of keeping the old school tradition alive at the same time.

So HP inviting us for a hands-on workshop proved to be a welcome “throwback” as it brought us “back to school” for an afternoon arts-and-crafts session.

The HP INKredible Learning Day collaborated with visual artist and storyteller Geloy Concepcion, a photographer known for expressing thoughts through the creative use of images and other elements.

HP Smart Tank 580

At the heart of the event is the HP Smart Tank 580 printer, which helped reproduce high-quality HP Printables made exclusively available for the participants during the day.

Think of these as activity sheets, as if I really went back to school for art class. Coincidentally, I was part of my elementary school’s art club about two decades ago. DIY-ing stuff for journals, diaries, or just for displaying on a desk has been my thing.

Funny enough, we were handed out these plastic envelopes with sheets of paper, crayons, and more materials. It’s like completely going back to the first day of school and making sure all your stuff is complete.

Anyway, the four sheets each had a theme: To-Do List, My Family, How Are You Feeling, and Concepcion’s “Bad Days Are Temporary” artwork.

The cost-efficient, high-performance printer quickly prints the sheets, and users are assured of high-quality detail. That’s as the Smart Tank 580 is designed for such purposes and even small businesses that require high-volume printing.

I personally think they’re a great fit for schools for reproducing quizzes or short activities especially for the lower levels.

With crayons and colored markers, participants all had their take on the sheets, adding life and their own personal identities on each.

Make memories, keep them

With the right devices at home, you can definitely turn digital memories and even just everyday creative ideas into tangible forms.

Especially in this era, it’s easy to overlook photos that we have on our phones. Ironically, our handsets’ storage spaces fill up fast, but after a few years or so, we usually either lose such media.

So what Concepcion is also trying to get across is if there is the opportunity to turn these moments into tangible print-outs we can always look back at, then that would be better. It’s how the world has been anyway since the invention of the camera.

We all brought home the sheets, some art materials, and even a personalized postcard only available for those in attendance.
