Samsung is testing their own Android Go smartphone
Specs leaked!
Across smartphone history, Samsung has always veered away from the Android One or Android Go program. The Korea-based company prefers more premium branding, whether for the flagship or the affordable market. Until now, that is.
Currently, Samsung is testing a smartphone for the affordable market. Tagged the SM-J260, the smartphone will also go through Google’s Android Go program.
The Android Go program offers a complete Android experience for entry-level smartphones. When produced, Samsung’s take on Android Go will provide a unique blend for the company’s budget offerings.
As of now, the SM-J260, segmented for different markets, has begun testing in countries where entry-level phones enjoy a modicum of profitability. For example, the SM-J260G is testing in the Southeast Asian region.
With the segmentation, leaks have reportedly revealed the specs of this pioneering smartphone.
Particularly, the SM-J260F will sport a 5.0-inch Super AMOLED screen. Under the hood, it will tout a 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos 7570 processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage.
For cameras, it will carry an 8-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front camera combination. It will power through the day with a meager 2600mAh battery.
As with all Android Go phones, it will come installed with the latest Android 8.1 Oreo, upgrading to Android P when it comes.
Despite the lowly specs, the Android Go program depicts one of the more profitable markets in significant countries. When it launches, Samsung’s take plays a part in creating more recognizable offerings in that particular market. For now, we’ll have to wait for more announcements surrounding this entry-level phone.
