Huawei Sound X arrives in Singapore

Huawei’s first Hi-Fi speaker

Huawei’s Hi-Fi speaker the Sound X — which was launched alongside the P40 series — is now in Singapore.

It’s the first-ever dual-subwoofer Hi-Fi speaker, co-designed with French audio brand Devialet with premium hardware, a stylish exterior, and next-level software. Devialet is a global audio brand known for its High-Fidelity products.

It’s not a smart speaker in the way that there’s a voice assistant integrated like the Google Home or the Amazon Echo, but it does have some ‘smart’ qualities.

For instance, it will work seamlessly with your Huawei P40 series phone. Gently tapping your phone against the Sound X transmits audio to the speaker.

The audio, Huawei says, is lossless and low-latency and can be tweaked thanks to a proprietary EMUI 10.1 multi-device control panel. Think of like Huawei’s own version of Apple’s AirPlay.

Another thing that Huawei is proud of about the Sound X is how compact it is compared to other speakers that promise to deliver the same level of hi-end audio. It’s able to deliver 60W of bass despite being relatively smaller than other speakers with the same capability.

Pricing and availability

The Huawei Sound X is available starting July 4, 2020 at a retail price of $G$ 498 in all Huawei Concept Stores, Huawei official online stores in Lazada and Shopee as well as authorized retailers including Best Denki, Challenger, COURTS and Harvey Norman.

Every purchase of the HUAWEI Sound X is covered with a one-year warranty, terms and conditions apply.

Sony Xperia 1 II coming to Singapore

Monster of a smartphone camera hitting us later in the year

The world’s first smartphone with up to 20FPS AF/AE tracking burst — the Sony Xperia 1 II — is coming to Singapore.

Some of the more notable improvements from its predecessor are as follows: new Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chip, support for 5G, and a single storage option of 256GB.

However, the headlining features are its camera capabilities. Specifically the following:

  • 20FPS burst shooting with 60 times per second AF/AE3 calculations from Sony’s Alpha interchangeable lens cameras.
  • Creator mode and cinema recording function Cinematography Pro “powered by CineAlta” from Sony’s professional solutions business division
  • X1 for mobile based on technology from BRAVIA TV

The camera system is still a triple 12-megapixel setup but it now has larger sensors and ZEISS optics. The cameras are also calibrated by ZEISS and the lens have a special ZEISS T anti-reflective coating on them. Optical zoom is one-step further with three times magnification instead of two.

It has a 6.5-inch 4K OLED Display with a cinematic 21:9 Aspect Ratio and is made of Corning Gorilla Glass 6.

Availablity in Singapore

The Xperia 1 II in Black, Purple and White will be available in Singapore in Q4 of 2020 at Sony StoresSony Store Online, and the Sony flagship store on Lazada. Price information will be available at a later date while a registration of interest can be done at this link.

LG launches three new XBoom Go speakers in Singapore

XBoom Go PL7, PL5, and PL2 have well-balanced sounds and compact designs

There’s one accessory that we need more than ever as we work from home. That’s a bluetooth speaker — it’s portable, convenient, and allows listening to tunes anytime, anywhere. Buyers on the lookout for a great Bluetooth speaker should look no further than LG’s XBoom speaker lineup. After all, LG is launching three new XBoom speakers in Singapore.

These three new speakers are the XBoom Go PL7, PL5, and PL2. All these speakers stand out from the competition through its well-balanced sound, enhanced usability and features, and compact design. LG partnered with MERIDIAN to ensure that its speakers produce high-quality sound with deep bass, clear treble, and rich vocals.

LG’s XBoom Go PL2

As for the XBoom Go PL7, LG equipped the speaker with dual tweeters. Like the rest of the lineup, it also comes with dual passive radiators and dual-action bass feature, as well as a sound boost to deliver consistent, crystal-clear, and bass-thumping sound across all frequencies.

LG also equipped some smarts across all speakers. All XBoom Go speakers support hands-free voice commands and multi-phone pairing. Listeners can take advantage of the built-in Wireless Party Link function to link two XBoom Go PL7 together.

Multi-color lighting is also available for both the XBoom Go PL7 and PL5. This lighting feature employs a sophisticated three-step process to detect the song’s beat and match it with corresponding colors.

On top of all the features, all XBoom Go speakers are IPX5-rated. Thus, listeners can use them for pool parties since the speakers are guaranteed to survive from sprays and splashes.

Interested buyers can buy the XBoom Go PL7, PL5, and PL2 on all authorized retailers (Best Denki, Challenger, COURTS, Harvey Norman, NTUC, and Popular) across Singapore. For more information, visit LG Singapore’s website.
