Samsung might drop long-standing features on the Galaxy Note 10
Hopefully for the better
Samsung’s Galaxy Note series has always been the go-to smartphone for demanding power users. Not only are they large and full of battery power, but they also offer every feature you could think of each year they come out.
That outlook could change, however, with the latest rumors saying that the upcoming Galaxy Note 10 might drop the 3.5mm audio port in favor of more internal room for other features. That’s the same reason other manufacturers gave to justify their dismissal of the feature.
Recently, both consumers and tech reviewers praised the Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy S10 for being the rare flagships that still own a headphone/speaker port. Although we’re gradually moving toward a truly wireless future, the presence of the legacy feature has been making the transition much more comfortable.

Falling on the number ten — though not a 10th-anniversary model because the first Galaxy Note released in 2011 — Samsung is sure to throw in more distinct features. One may be the removal of yet another long-standing feature: physical buttons.
Rumors point to the possibility that Samsung might go for flat capacitive buttons on the Galaxy Note 10 for power and volume control (and possibly the Bixby button). Rest assured, the S Pen will definitely make its return.
We’ve seen other manufacturers remove buttons and holes on their own smartphones, so it’ll be interesting to see how Samsung strikes the proper balance between innovation and fitting in a large battery.
If Samsung manages to maintain its release cycle, the Galaxy Note 10 should see an August unveiling. Hopefully, it won’t experience the same struggles the Galaxy Fold endured.
